Re: Talks question
Does the same apply to AT&T(cingular)? - Original Message - From: "Frank Ventura" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, August 28, 2009 4:55 Subject: RE: Talks question If you like Verizon and the Ozone, you can buy the Ozone and put Mobilespeak on it and it will be fully accessible. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Lauren Sent: Friday, August 28, 2009 4:52 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Talks question I also called numerous time to Verizon and it seems the Talks for the Ozone only allows you to do email, texting and navigating through menus, but not the Internet. At least, they say the Internet is not mentioned, like Gary said, and so we are all assuming that you cannot surf with the Talks version for the Verizon phone. If AT&TO allowed me to get reception where I am, I would opt for the Iphone, which apparently is fully accessible, but alas, Verizon enables me to get reception. Sincerely, Lauren - Original Message - From: "Christopher Chaltain" To: "'PC Audio Discussion List'" Sent: Thursday, August 27, 2009 8:52 PM Subject: RE: Talks question Why do you say the Talks that Verizon sells is not the full working version? What are you comparing it to? I believe it's the only Talks sold for the Windows Mobile platform, so I think it is the fully working version. Just as Code Factory has different products for the Symbian, Windows Mobile and Pocket PC platforms, Nuance has different products for the Symbian and now Windows Mobile platform. I think people need to be careful when talking about Talks that they're clear to specify the Symbian versus Windows Mobile version. I'm also not sure why you're saying Verizon is getting away with anything selling Talks for $99. AT&T sells Mobile Speak for $89, and I think that's the same product you'd get from Code Factory for quite a bit more. I suspect the price is more the result of a deal made between Nuance and Verizon or AT&T and code Factory than it is the fact that a stripped down version of the screen reader is being sold. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Martin, Tim A., NMDOT Sent: Thursday, August 27, 2009 12:48 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: RE: Talks question Hi Lauren, I think the version of Talks Verizon sells for the $99.00 would work for most functions, but it is not the full working version. That is probably why they get away with selling it for the price they do. Mobile Speaks does not work at this time for the Black Berry phones, but it does work quite well with the Ozone, that is the phone I have. You might talk to Verizon and they may let you have the good price on the Ozone, I believe it was $49.00 with a 2 year contract. If you can afford it, I would get the Ozone without speech, and then you can purchase Mobile Speaks. I realize it is pricy, but you can transfer the software to other Smart phones in the future should you decide at some point to get another phone. Of course, you can only run the software on 1 phone at a time, but when you need to, the transfer is quite simple. Also, you get a fully functional 30-day trial before you have to purchase, which allows you some time to acquire the funds. The company that I purchased my Mobile Speaks from has a 6 or 12 month purchase plan. They do charge a small fee for this, but it makes things a little easier if you can't get the money at once. You are able to access the Internet fine from this phone. You do however, need to have good cell service in the area in which you live. You can set the phone up to retrieve your Internet E-mail, and it is not difficult to read texts or E-mails. I wouldn't use a phone as my main source for surfing the net, but the feature is there should one need it. Any other questions are welcomed. Verizon sells the Ozone with Talks preloaded, but I can't find out if it is a limited or fully functioning version. If I choose it, do you know if I can navigate everything myself like accessing menus, email, internet and texting? Use of the internet would really be great for me! The Talks cost $99; the Mobile Speaks, does it allow you to do everything and would it work on a Blackbury? I think I mad the mistake of buying a Blackbury Tour with Vlingo, but am discovering it won't let me access what I need. Verizon will let me trade to another phone without any penalty because of my disability. Please advise and thanks to Gary also for his very helpful link. Sincerel
Re: YouTube & Free Download Manager
Do you have a link to a good place to download it? You can also select WMA as an output file. - Original Message - From: "Dean Masters" To: "PC Audio" Sent: Tuesday, September 01, 2009 3:56 AM Subject: YouTube & Free Download Manager Here is how to download a video from YouTube with Free Download Manager: I went to the following URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx6Eo6liyCg Hit h for headers until you get to "related videos" Arrow down to the first link. With the cursor on the link hit the right mouse button, numpad *. Arrow up until you hear "Download Video with Free Download manager". Hit enter. A dialog to create flash video download will then appear You will hear the URL Tab once and check the checkbox to automatically convert the downloaded video to the specified format if you want to download it as something besides a .flv file. If you want an .flv file leave the checkbox unchecked and tab to the OK button and hit enter. Tab once to the customize button. Enter to set up the first time if you want all downloads converted to the same thing evry time. There will be a list view for whatever format you want. mp3 is at the bottom of the list. Tab and it asks to change the size of the video. Since we are doing mp3 it doesn't matter where this is set. Tab and select the quality. Tab and there wil be a checkbox to check if what you have done is to be the default. Tab to OK and hit enter You will then be back to the original dialog Tab to OK and hit enter. The download will then start. A window will pop up showing the info about the download. I don't know if this link actually lets you download. Some videos may not be downloaded. It gave me the title of the piece but didn't do anything. It is still listed on the FDM program. But these are the steps to download the videos that you can download. Re: File naming or renaming
Try mp3 tag - Original Message - From: "Howard Traxler" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Monday, September 17, 2012 08:15 Subject: File naming or renaming I have lots of audio files that have the underscore rather than space in their filenames. I downloaded a program called bulk rename utility to change these in batches. Wonder if anyone else is using (or trying to use) this program? It's not really very intuitive. Also have alot of files with numbers as filenames. I'd like to find a utility that will rename the file based upon the ID3 information within it. Any ideas? Thanks. As most of you know, the great difficulty with Centova is having to drag audio files into the playlists. With WHMSonic you don't have to do that, but I wonder if any of you can help me with two things: First, I haven't found how to show at my webpage the song that is playing or the number of listeners. That was simple with Icecast, but must also be possible with Shoutcast/WHMSonic, because it shows on Tapin Radio. There mus be either PHP or Java Script code to do it. The other thing I need is to configure playlists to play at certain intervals, such as every half hour to identify the station or a promo every three or four songs. I don't know if it is possible, and if so, how to do it. The website for whmsonic.com has only videos with screen capture, no written manual and the FAQs are out of order. I have looked extensively in Google without luck. If someone has a manual for WHMSonic I would greatly appreciate it. I have tried other online converters, but they seem to crash IE9. The Youtube video to audio converters I have tried without success include listentoyoutube.com, and videotomp3.com. I am wondering if anyone has discovered a Youtube to audio converter that is equal or near equal to Youtube-mp3.org. I discovered while researching what was behind this sudden and strange development I was curious as to why Google is playing waterboy for ASCAP. However, I have subsequently concluded that Google has its own turf to protect, and it is the ring tone revenues they are likely receiving from the Android apps markets. IN any event, I would appreciate any suggestions.
