Bad humming while recording or using Skype.
Morning all. This problem has probably been thrown around many times, but now my turn. Using Windows7 HP, and Jaws 15 (newest bill). When using external blug in microphone, or the built-in one on my Dell all in one computer, when even using the sound recorder in Windows, there is a bad humming noise in background. This occurs also when talking in Skype or in chat rooms, which annoys others and me also for it happening. The computer is grounded with a surge protector. The recording level is set at 70 percent, with 0 microphone boost. As I said this happens when using headphone mic or built in one. Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks, Morey Worthington PS..I have tried headset microphone on another computer and it works fine, and I also have tried this situation using external or the built-in speakers. I am lost.
RE: Windows Media Player
Just curious about this problem. Have you checked in the Program files to see if Windows Media Player is in there? If so, open the file and find the .exe file, press the applications key, down arrow to make shortcut, click on that and it should put it on desktop. Then click on that shortcut and see what happens. If not in Program Files...gl. Hope this thought you already know about and have tried. HTH Morey
Re: Windows Media Player
You might also try the Windows/2 or 3 key on the number row. It should bring it up from there. HTH Morey

Winamp and Lists
Morning all, Using Jaws 15, Win7 HP and Winamp 5.65. I have a folder with 10 .mp3 songs in it. Winamp is my default player for these files. How in the heck does a person get Winamp to play all the files from top to bottom or bottom to top?? I have tried selecting with Alt/A, ctr/shift/home, ctr/shift/end, but all I can get Winamp to play is either the top song, or the bottom one. Any thoughts appreciated for this bothersome problem. Files reversing from copying to burning
Hi all, probably a simpple answer to this one. I have a folder in which I keep .mp3 files I want to burn. Using Burn Aware, I go to the said folder, select all the files with control/A, and copy them to the clipboard. I then go the compulation window and paste them into that window, and proceed to burn them. After the burn is complete, I find that track 6 is now 1, and 1 is now 2, and so on. How may I take action to stop this from happening? Thanks, Morey Worthington To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

I am a blind person, but can give you the following information. My wife, sighted, checked the sound card and there are 4 different icons on the jacks..1 pink which is the microphone, and 3 orange ones, the one closest to the michrophone is the one I have the speakers pluged into. In the properties of the recording devices there are 3 microphones listed and 2 line-ins listed. I have the microphone listed for the Rocketfish is set as default. As I said , I can record from the microphone. Was wondering if the Microphone jack and the line-in jack are the same. Think it could be, if I changed the default to the Rocketfish default, what might happen if I tried that?? Hi all, Using Win/7 HP, Jaws 13 and RocketFish 5.1 Sound Card. Looking at the computer from the back, 4 jacks, from right to left, microphone, speakers, and 2 other jacks. I have tried using both to record from a cassette player. I have gone to the recording properties and have chosen the RocketFish Line-in as the default. Set the volumn at 75, and as I said, have tried both empty jacks with no results. Using Goldwave as the recorder, I can record myself from the microphone jack. Any thoughts, or does this card not have any line in qualities?? Any help appreciated, Thanks. Crackling sound in Win/7
Hello all, Have a Acer Computer with 2g memory and a 500gg hard drive, and it came with Win Vista. The sound card was a on board one with Real Tech drivers. I did a fresh install of Win/7 and updated to the newest bill of Jaws 12. The audio drivers which were installed were downloaded form microsoft for the audio drivers. Now I have a whole bunch of crackling in speakers even when using certain keys on keyboard. Using microphone also causes crackling, but music such as MP3 has no problems except when pressing keys to get to it. I went to the system files and tried updating the audio drivers, but came back with message that proper drivers were installed. If this is a sound card or driver issue, any thoughts? Hi Frank, Below are a few tips about using M. The question I originally asked was how to get from the download page back to the search list page. Here goes: 1. Hi Morey - To get from the transfer window to the search window Use the JAWS cursor to go to the top of the window where you click on the graphic just to the left of the Search option. You will go to the Search window, landing in the first Artist/title edit box. Turn off the JAWS cursor and back space once to the search results list. If I remembered the above correctly, you should be set to go. Charlie 2. This information is how to select searched titles and get them to download. I use Windoweyes, but this is how I do it. If I want more than 1 song from a single search I select all of the songs before pressing download. After I left click on any one of the results, I press (home) to go to the top of the list. Then, while continuously holding down the control key, I down arrow through the list. When I come to a song I want, I tap the spacebar. Remember I'm keeping the control key down the entire time. When I have worked my way through the list, I use the mouse key to left click on "download". Bingo! Hope this information helps you and others as it helped me. Winamp problem
Hello all, Using Winamp 5.13. When a person sends me a sound file, be it .wav, or mp3, when I open up the attachment Winamp tries to open it, but I then get a error message about Winamp wanting to send in a malfunction report to its leaders. I sent it in once. I then went back to the message , opened the attachment, saved it to a folder in My Documents,, went there and clicked on it and Winamp opened it just fine. Any thoughts on why opening it while in E-Mail message will not work? Replacement for Nero Express
Hello all, at this time I cannot afford to purchase Nero6 to do what I want to do , with while burning a CD. I would like to have the song title and artist info in the track list, instead of Track 1...etc. Any other burning software out there that will do this , and maybe for free? I know this sounds real cheap, but have some tough times at the moment. I should be able to get Nero 6 in awhile, but till then , any suggestions? I am currently using Nero Express. Windows Media Player
Hello all, Using the Windows Media Player that came on the CD for WIN/XP/SP2. Re: Labeling files before burning in Nero
Hi Doc, Your recommendation about upgrading to Nero 6 is well taken. Labeling files before burning in Nero
Hello again, I can burn a CD with Nero 5 and Jaws 7.1. But now...How do I get the song title and artist put into the track info? As per the help file in Nero, it says to go into the properties of the song, and put in the information. Went into the properties but the PC Cursor does not see anything, and the Jaws cursor finds the fields but will not allow me to insert information. I have tried this in the Summary Tab. These are songs I have on computer, but not copied from another CD. Any thoughts? Hi Donna, Checked the sound with Winamp, Windows Media Player, and also with headphones. All still the same. If I down scale to 3 or so, the sound levels off. Re: The obvious.....Isn't
Hello, Yes, I usually use Winamp, but just tried the Windows Media Player and still the same. I have tried headphones and they have the same simularity. If I go down to 3 or so on the balance scale, the sound is almost what a person would expect the 50 percent to be. WellIf that is what it is going to have to be, then will go on having it that way. But it is still not correct as per my way of thinking. The obvious.....Isn't
Hello all, I have asked a question before about sound coming out of 1 stereo desktop speaker more than the other. This is where the obvious, which isn't, comes in. With the speaker balance set at 50 percent, a person should think that an equal amount of sound would come out of each speakershouldn't they? Well..If I take the balance down to less than 10 percent the stereo sounds are now more evident. I can then raise the volume and all is better. Is something wrong with set-up? Or again, is the obvious, not obvious? I have checked the input jacks for speakers and all appears well, and as I said before, the volume control is on the base of one of the speakers. Am I missing something where my thinking that 50 percent is equal? Re: Speaker volume problem
Hi Brandon and Kathy, As per your recommendations, I have changed the speakers from the front, to the back, and also have checked the jack as Kathy recommended. My system only has 1 jack for installing into computer. The volume control is on one of the speakers, not in the computer. Maybe the speaker with the volume control is drawing the juice to other speaker. Thanks, Will keep looking. Speaker volume problem
Hello all, Using Win/XP, Jaws 7.1, and Sound Blaster Live. Having a stereo balance problem. In the play back settings the balance is set at 50 percent. In the speaker settings, the setting is set at stereo desktop speakers. I have gone through the test speaker utility, and it says all is working properly. Not really... The sound comes out of right speaker very well, but not left. I have changed the balance down to 30 percent on right and that seems to help a little, but makes right speaker sound garbled. Any thoughts on how to make sounds come out both speakers, in stereo, and at the 50 percent levels?
