which media player to use?

2004-06-15 Thread black.box - ihug
hi all,

i've recently amassed a 6Gb, and counting, MP3 collection, and when i go to
make a playlist Media Player 9 crashes my system.

i can only conclude that this is because Media Player copies the MP3 files
to the 'My Music' folder on the C Drive, and seeing as i only have 1Gb of
space left on my C Drive it runs out of space.

(i have all my MP3 files on an external USB2 hard drive).

is there any way to stop Media Player 9 from duplicating all these files?
or would it be best to use some other media player software? say Real
Player.

i would be interested to know what other media player software everyone else
uses, and what you would all recommend.

i am looking for something that can be used as a 'Jukebox' system at a live
event i will be working at.

cheers.
p.j.
