Samson H2 digital recorders
I heard about this small but very powerful digital recorder on a computer radio show called Samson H2. retail price is $199 and is a professional digital recorder. Very powerful built in microphone. Can one of you forward this to Neil in Wisconsin who does those podcasts on digital recorders. It uses 2 AA batteries. Uses standard SD cards. From the show no software is required to use this digital recorder. You pull out the SD card and insert into card reader and move the files over. I didn't hear anything about this device being a player though. If one of you has this device let us know more about it. Replay converter 3 beta tip
If you have an issue with Replay Converter 3 when it is publicly released in not making a audio CD for you try these steps: From the developer: I was able to test your MP3 files and at first I did get the same error that you did. The error is occurring when the MP3 files are being converted before the actual burning process. But once I did the following steps, I was able to burn your MP3 files to an audio CD: 1) Go into Options in Replay Converter. 2) Select Audio Conversion Options. 3) Uncheck the MP3 box so that Replay Converter does not use DirectShow to convert MP3 files. 4) Try another burn. Replay Converter 3.0 beta (For Sunshine)
The response from Applian Technologies: Yes, if you install Replay Converter 3.0, it should install over the top of RC 2.80. You will not need to uninstall all of Replay A/V, to uninstall Replay Converter 3.0. If you would like to uninstall Replay Converter 3.0, then you can just uninstall Replay Converter 3.0 seperately. However, you will need to install either RC 2.80 again or RC 3.0 again to have Replay A/V converter files again. Replay Converter 3.0 beta (For Sunshine)
Another response from Applian. Yes, RC 3.0 Beta can be used with a full copy of Replay A/V. Petro replies: Just remember it is a beta and I help them tweak and make the products accessible. Also there could be bugs in RC 3.0 beta so you'd know ahead of time. And if you don't like RC 3.0 you uninstall just RC 3.0 beta and re-install RC 2.80 if you were using Replay AV 8.41 there. Valuable tips and info from the Applian forums
Hello all! I seem to be having a problem and am looking for some help... I am capturing streaming audio and video via Replay Media Catcher and then convert it to AVI via Replay Converter. My problem is that my resulting AVI files all seem to have lost audio/video sync...meaning, in case I am not wording it well, that the audio that is being spoken is not in sync with the video. I am not sure if there is something that I am doing wrong or if there is some sort of configuration that I need to look into...any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks! Michael Hi Michael, Please try changing the direct show settings for the type of file that you are converting from. Heres how to do this in Replay Converter 2: 1. Click on Options. 2. If your conversion is a video file, click on the Video Conversion Options button. If your conversion is an audio only file click on the Audio Conversions Options button. 3. In the Direct Show options dialog box that opens next, find the file format of the original file that you are converting FROM. If Direct Show for that format is not checked, please check it. If it is already checked, then please uncheck it. If you are unable to find the format of the original file you are converting in the options, then either check or uncheck the Other check box. 4. Try your conversion again. Best Regards, Debbie McCormick Actually the native format for DVDs is MPEG-2 and not MPEG-4. So, your AVI file will first need to be converted to MPEG-2 before it can be burned to DVD. Some DVD burning programs will do that for you and some will not. Our product, Replay Converter 3.0 beta version, http://www.applian.com/files/RCSetup300.exe should be able to convert your AVI file and burn it to DVD. We are thinking of adding Replay Converter with Media Catcher, so you will be able to do all this automatically. Audio Vision Radio for the blind
Audio Vision Radio Reading Service is Online By Michael McCarty on Streaming audio Think for a moment how your life would change if you couldn't read a newspaper, magazine, or book. Because you have this luxury, you may not realize how the morning paper can affect your life. Unfortunately, there are as many as 180,000 Californians who, due to blindness, impaired vision, or physical disability, have had to learn to live without. Now, through AUDIO VISION Radio Reading Service for the Blind, many people once caught in this information void have 24-hour, seven-days-a-week access to the local and national news and information that shapes our lives. Everything from the front-page stories to the grocery store advertisements is read by volunteers and is broadcast over what is called a sub-frequency of a public FM radio station. In California, the broadcast can be heard only through the use of a special radio receiver. For the blind and print handicapped, this service is as big a part of their lives as breakfast, lunch and dinner. Anyone who cannot read due to blindness, impaired vision or physical handicap can request the AUDIO VISION service. The ultimate goal of AUDIO VISION is to make this broadcast available to anyone who needs it without the use of expensive special access receivers. The broadcast of newspapers is now available online. It is not a live stream but a archival selection. Each days reading is replaced by the current day. Replay Music 3.20 beta news continued
Replay Music 3.20 beta update. The control tab shortcut does work within the settings dialog box but shift control tab shortcut does not. The control tab will jump you to the next tab properties and all in PC cursor mode. The shift control tab will not land you in the previous tab properties. For example if you are in the splitting tab/page and presses the shortcut shift control tab you will not land in the INPUT tab properties but instead will remain in the splitting tab properties. But using control tab shortcut will jump you through all 4 tabs: input, splitting, proxy, output and all using JAWS PC cursor mode. This was not the case before. It's a big time improvement. Eliminates having to use the JAWS cursor. He may fix the shift control tab to work for us too. I see a bug there when using shift control tab so I asked him to try and fix it. Replay AV in the news
Replay AV is nominated as Best Software for the Blind and Visually Impaired San Anselmo, CA- January 28, 2008 - Replay AV was the only mainstream software nominated in the Best Software category in the Blind Bargains 2007 Access Awards this week. The other software nominated in the best software category was specifically designed for blind users. Although, Replay AV didnt win the award the programs inclusion in the top four Best Software category is a testament to the efforts Applian Technologies has put into making their products accessible to the blind. The fact that a mainstream software product such as Replay AV was nominated amongst programs specifically for the blind shows me the commitment to equal access exhibited by Applian Technologies. Said J.J. Meddaugh, Webmaster for BlindBargains.com Other companies should follow their lead and work to include the blind and visually impaired when producing and distributing software. About a year ago a blind forum was established (http://www.freelists.org/list/blindreplay) to help blind users understand how to use Replay AV and other Applian Products. Petro T. Giannakopoulos, the forums unofficial monitor and avid computer user, has created regular podcasts (http://blindreplay.blogspot.com/2008/01/mp3-tutorials-on-replay-av-8.html) that demonstrate how to use the different features of Replay AV and other Applian programs like Replay Media Catcher, their streaming flash video recorder and Replay Music, their streaming music recorder. Mr. Giannakopoulos also acts as a beta tester for Applian to test any new product developments or enhancements to ensure that the programs work well with his screen reader and offer easy keyboard shortcuts. Additionally, a member of Applians staff also monitors the forum to make sure that the company is staying abreast of any accessibility issues that their programs might have. Any recommendations from the forum are immediately relayed back to the developers so they can fix any accessibility issues that may arrive. The members of the blind forum predominantly like to use Replay AV to capture their favorite streaming radio shows. But interestingly, the blind users also use Replay AV to capture streaming video like the playlists you would find on YouTube. The blind users like to listen to the videos just like they like to listen to their favorite radio shows. Replay AV has brought a lot of enjoyment to my life, said Petro. Applian is a great company that really cares about making their products accessible to the blind user. Bill Dettering is a fantastic CEO and the overall company is a fantastic group. Our programs have always been about helping people get more enjoyment out of streaming media, said Bill Dettering. We are thrilled that our products have developed a loyal following in the blind community. Replay A/V and all other Applian products are available for download and immediate purchase from the Applian Technologies web site at http://www.applian.com. Free demos are available for all the products. The programs require a PC running Windows. About Applian Technologies Applian Technologies was started by Bill Dettering in 2000 with the launch of Replay Radio, a program Bill created to combat the boredom of his long commute down to Silicon Valley every day. Replay Radio allowed Bill to listen to his favorite radio programs whenever he wanted. Now, seven years after the launch of Replay Radio, Applian is recognized as the global leader in recording software. Other popular Applian products include the Audio Video Streaming Capture Suite, Replay AV, Replay Media Catcher, Replay Music, Replay Converter, and Replay Screencast. Replay Music 3.20 beta news
I got some good news for those of you who use Replay Music 3. Tonight I beta tested Replay Music 3.20 and its Settings dialog box. The developer has fixed this dialog box to work with the control tab keyboard key to jump to the next tab/page/folder settings. They are input, splitting, proxy and output. Tip: Use insert t with JAWS and you will hear name of dialog and page is: input if you are in the input page or page is splitting if you are in the splitting page. As you can see this company called Applian Technologies does care. Replay Music users
Just making this known to all of you who use Replay Music and Winamp player. Hi Petro, That is correct. When you update or install Winamp when you already have Replay Music installed on your computer, you will need to re-install Replay Music. Winamp overwrites a Gracenote file that Replay Music uses when you install or update Winamp. Also, to just let you know, I am just about finished with a new version of Replay Music. This version's settings should be much more accessible for screen readers like Jaws. It should be ready to download in a couple days. Thanks, Petro adds: You uninstall Replay Music and reinstall it. Do not try installing over the top. Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Testers needed with Applian Paypal Order form
Hi Situation is I cannot find this continue.gif button on the Replay Music order form in order to use the Paypal payment option in order to pay using Paypal funds. Ordering with a credit card is no issue. I did a podcast on this. This issue with the continue.gif button is probably on every Applian order form. So can you order with Paypal there? I use JAWS 9. I did check and change my insert v settings to see if I could find this continue.gif button to be taken to the Paypal log in screen but I cannot locate this continue button. Response from Applian. They definitely trying to fix this. Finding the continue.gif in order to... The image is named continue.gif. Click that button and you are given the PayPal option on the next page. It will take you to a page on the PayPal server that includes a PayPal order form and a PayPal login if you already have an account. I've tested the buttons and they do work normally. Please let me know if you are still having trouble. --- The order form page to test is: https://applian.securesites.com/order_paypal.php?pkg=RARNreferral= --- If one looks at the source code of the page you will see: src=images-new/buttons/continue.gif alt=Buy Now //td Is this not the Buy Now button the continue.gif image? I press my ENTER keyboard key on this Buy Now button. I then am taken to a new page at: https://applian.securesites.com/order_cardinfo_paypal.php Now I see on this new page a Buy With Paypal button. Pressed my ENTER key on this Buy With Paypal button and it thinks I want to use a credit card. Pop up message appears with an OK button. The source code here on this page for the Buy With Paypal button is: input name=Is_Paypal type=image id=Is_Paypal src=images2/PaypalExpress.gif alt=Buy with PayPal align=middle width=145 height=42 --- If I am in error please tell me so. Radiotime RedButton Possible Future Improvements
Radiotime is recording software. I am beta testing RedButton tuner 2.937 build for accessibility with JAWS 9. I have direct communications with the developer of RedButton. He's in Russia. You can definitely use the web based interface to schedule your recordings. They have an excellent radio guide. Ask Mike P. and I agree with him. If any of you use this program please post the bugs you may have on this list so I can forward them to the developer. They are listening to me and are interested in improving the software. The developer told me he now understands the unlabeled graphics and to use alt tags and tags after I explained it to him via email. Applian Press Release on Replay AV 8.4+
Applian Technologies Announces New Technology to Record XM and Sirius Internet Broadcasts Applian Technologies releases a breakthrough technology to record XM and Sirius Internet Broadcasts via stream capture. San Anselmo, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2007 -- Applian Technologies has just released an update to their flagship online media recording product, Replay AV, that offers the first ever stream capture recording of Sirius and XM satellite online radio broadcasts. This breakthrough release offers all XM and Sirius subscribers the ability to automatically schedule and record their favorite streaming satellite programs with perfect bit-for-bit reproduction of the original feeds. Additionally, Replay AV allows simultaneous recording of multiple XM and Sirius streaming shows. We are very excited to be the first software company to offer this exciting new recording breakthrough, said Bill Dettering, CEO of Applian Technologies. This latest release of Replay AV further demonstrates our leadership in recording radio shows broadcast over the web, as well as other types of media. Our satellite radio enthusiast beta testers have been thrilled. In addition to downloading streaming audio, Replay AV also captures streaming video, includes an integrated media guide for recording and scheduling radio shows, converts all the popular audio and video formats, imports recordings automatically into iTunes and offers the ability to send recorded files via the integrated YouSendIt application. Replay AV works with any PC running Windows. You can learn more about it at www.Replay-AV.com. About Applian Technologies Applian Technologies was started by Bill Dettering in 2000 with the launch of Replay Radio, a program Bill created to combat the boredom of his long commute down to Silicon Valley. Replay Radio allowed Bill to record his favorite radio shows and listen whenever he wanted. Helping people get more enjoyment out of streaming media is what Applian Products are all about. Now, seven years after the launch of Replay Radio, Applian is recognized as the global leader in recording software. Other popular Applian products include the Audio Video Streaming Capture Suite, Replay Media Catcher, Replay Music, Replay Converter, Replay Screencast and At-Large Recorder, their Slingbox recorder. Slingbox DirecTV info
Hi The Slingbox hardware and SlingPlayer software can be used by a blind person with JAWS by using the keyboard shortcuts. The SlingPlayer software version I use here is 1.4+. Shortcuts like ctrl+m to toggle the audio, alt+P for the Player menu. DirecTV satellite provider is working on a service which is called remote bookings which will allow you to control your DVR (Digital Video Recorder) satellite box from your computer. This is in testing phase. I asked DirecTV if I could participate in the testing and was told I had no business in this. I told them to use proper HTML code when designing this new remote bookings service which should be available sometime next year. You cannot control your DVR box's functions completely nor configure your DVR box menu's using the SlingPlayer software. You Tube videos
Got this tip from a mailing list I am subscribed and thought some of you might like this too. I should be able to use Applian's Media Catcher to capture all the videos much more quickly via youtube.com playlist feature. YouTube QuickLists If you've ever used the video Web site of YouTube, you know it has millions of videos for you to see! YouTube does a great job of making these videos visible to you. For example, if you go to view a video about the new Apple iPhone, to the right of the video, you will see other videos uploaded by that user, along with more videos related to the iPhone. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick1. jpg For certain videos, you may find several others you're interested in and you may want to watch them. In that case, you'll want to create a quick playlist of those videos so that you don't lose them. Well, YouTube includes a feature that allows you to do just that. It's called QuickLists and let me tell you, it's awesome! QuickLists has been around for quite awhile, but it's possible that you haven't noticed it yet. After today, you will know exactly what to look for. I'm going to show you how to work with it and use it to your advantage. Let's get started! 1.) Go ahead and surf to YouTube (youtube.com http://youtube. com/ ). 2.) Once you're there, search for a favorite video or just click on any video on the homepage. 3.) You will see the Related Videos and More From: sections (for a certain user) that we discussed earlier. If you look closely, you will see a little plus sign ( http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick2. jpg ) in the bottom right corner of each video thumbnail. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick3. jpg 4.) Clicking on that will automatically add it to a QuickList for you. Go ahead and try adding a couple videos to a QuickList. They will appear right above the Related Videos section. You will see the QuickList icon in your search results as well. 5.) Next, click the Play All link to have the videos automatically play in order. http://imgsrv. worldstart. com/ct-images/ listquick4. jpg After you've watched all of your QuickList videos, you can then clear them away by clicking on the Clear link. Or, if you have a YouTube account, you can save them into a permanent playlist by clicking the Save link. QuickLists are an easy way to make your YouTube experience a whole lot more fun. Enjoy! Winamp error (for Catherine)
Reinstall over the top the Winamp software. Note: My experience only. When installing a newer version of Winamp software it will break Replay Music's tagging feature. This tagging feature used to use the gracenote service to determine the title, artist and album name. Names the tracks for your recordings. So if I install a newer version of Winamp I have to uninstall Replay Music and reboot my computer and then reinstall again the Replay Music software. Applian in its user guide says you must uninstall Replay Music and then reboot your computer before installing Replay Music software. So I would do: 1. Uninstall RM software and reboot the computer. 2. Install over the top the Winamp program. 3. See if Winamp player works for you. 4. Install Replay Music software now. 5. Now see if RM and Winamp work for you. Basically when I used to installed a newer version of Winamp it would break Replay Music. Hope this helps. Petro . DVD Knife utility
Hi think some of you might want to try and test this Utility with your screen readers. I have not tried this one. Let us know how it goes. Petro --- Jackie Rumble [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Jackie Rumble [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 07:52:49 -0400 Subject: [technical-support] Tip of the day Tip of the Dayhttp://www.imgsrv.worldstart.com/nl-graphic/tipofday.gif DVD Knife Hello! Before I start in with today's tip, I would like to tell you about something that I am just crazy about. It's probably something many of you are crazy about too. It's something that entertains us and it takes us to a whole new world for approximately 90 minutes. Do you know what I'm referring to? Yes, I am talking about movies. And even better, that's exactly what this tip is all about. Let's check it out! I, myself, have a big collection of movies on DVD and whenever I have free time, I like to watch my favorite scenes. I still watch Jack and Rose flying on the edge of the Titanic all the time! Now, another thing I like to do is watch my movies on my computer. If your computer has a DVD drive and you have the proper software, you can do that too. It's an easy way to watch the movies you love whenever you want! One problem I always face with that though is that it takes me forever to navigate to my favorite scenes in the movie. If you're watching the movie on a regular DVD player, it's not that difficult to find the scenes you want to see again, but this process is a lot harder on the computer. That always spoiled my mood, but then I came across a little utility program called DVD Knife. If you think that is something you may be interested in as well, go ahead and download DVD Knife here http://www.vcsoftwares.com/dk.html http://www.vcsoftwares.com/dk.html for free. Once you download the program, you will see a setup file called DK. Just double click on that file to start the setup process and then continue to follow the instructions to finish it up. Once DVD Knife is installed on your computer, launch it and you will then see this window: http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife1.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife1.jpg Next, you can get started on cutting parts of your movies so that you can watch your favorite scenes over and over again! Just follow the steps below to do so. First, click Open to browse for the DVD movie you want to work with. http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife2.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife2.jpg Once you have the movie open, it will start playing automatically. Now, use the slider to find the specific scene you would like to cut and save for later use. http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife3.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife3.jpg Next, click on Select Start to mark the beginning of your scene. http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife4.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife4.jpg Similarly, move the slider until you've found the end of the scene and then click on Select End. Now, if you want to play your selected scene right away, simply click on Play Selected. http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife5.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife5.jpg Once you are ready to save your clip, simply click on Save and then browse to the location in which you would like to save it. If you're planning on saving a lot of scenes from different movies, you may want to make a new folder just for that purpose. That way, you won't ever have trouble finding them when you want them! http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife6.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife6.jpg Once you've put the scene into your selected folder, click Save again so that the scene will be saved to that specific location. http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife7.jpg http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/dvdknife7.jpg Congratulations! Now you know exactly how you can get your favorite movie scenes off of your DVDs and onto your computer. And even better, now you can watch them anytime you want, without ever having to open the entire movie. Enjoy! Freecorder Toolbar DJC's review
Hi DJC and all The current version of Freecorder Toolbar 3 does not record Skype calls. I was told this when I first tested FCT3 on August 1st as I asked Applian Tech about it. With Jaws 8 I see the buttons: Record, Stop, Play, Pause, Settings, convert, Classic Rock button. I used Jaws graphics labeler to label the unlabeled Play button that appears right after the Convert button. Tips: Maximize your IE browser. Jaws users then do route jaws to PC cursor, ctrl+home, then a home key. Down arrow 2 times then do a home key. Use navigation keys like Ctrl+right arrow keys to navigate to your right and you will hear the record, stop, play, pause, settings, convert, Classic rock (default radio tuner station which can be changed). To activate any of the buttons for the toolbar within IE browser you do a jaws left mouse click. For example when you choose record button a Freecorder dialog box appears. Go back to PC cursor mode with Jaws. Applian calls this dialog box the Visualization window. It will say recording in it. You must minimize this window. If you close it with alt+F4 you will cause to stop recording. The user guide explains this. I did 13 podcasts on this Freecorder Toolbar 3. Freecorder Toolbar 3 Better details
Hi Brian Any luck with the scripts for Freecorder 2? Here's what I do with Freecorder Toolbar 3. Maximize your IE browser first. Route jaws to PC cursor. Ctrl+Home. Press Home key. Arrow down 2 times. Press Home Key. Use your navigation keys. Like Ctrl+ right arrow key. That is hold down ctrl key and keep pressing your right arrow key. You will eventually hear and land on Record. Pressing ctrl+ right arrow 1 more time will advance you to stop button on the toolbar. To activate the buttons you do a jaws left mouse click. Right after the Convert button there are some unlabeled buttons and these are for the radio tuner. So right after you hear Convert button you have: unlabeled Play button for the tuner. 1 more button over from the unlabeled play button is the stop button for the radio tuner. I used insert+G to label the unlabeled play button as play-station. Hope this helps. Freecorder 2 Freecorder Toolbar Scripts Wanted
Hi Brian All I want Jaws scripts for both Freecorder 2 which does record Skype calls but as you already know Brian this program needs scripts for the product key and some other minor issues I've already told you privately. As for Freecorder Toolbar 3 program it would be great to have Jaws scripts for this program too. Scripts for the toolbar buttons. Today I noticed something new in my toolbar called the Digg It! button. I have written to Applian to make sure about this new Digg It! button appearance within the toolbar. This toolbar is made by Conduit and not by Applian. It's an Israeli company. I think the reason I am seeing this new Digg It! is during the Freecorder Toolbar 3 installation on the Conduit screen I left the checkbox enabled to allow for automatic updates checked. Not sure as I am asking Applian. I am just a user of Applian Technologies products and check for accessibility. If the software is made by Applian they can sometimes fix the issue but if it's from a 3rd party that usually is difficult. Remember the YouSendIt plug in issue. The developers from YSI wrote to me 2 times and I never heard from them again. Thank you very much. Response from Applian on Freecorder Toolbar 3
To recap in case some of you are not following this. Today I noticed a Digg It! button appearing my toolbar which was not there before and why the FCT3 does not record Skype. Response from Applian Technologies: Hi Petro - The DIGG button is temporary for a couple of days. I'm not sure you can disable automatic updates. If you leave them on the Digg button will disappear shortly. As far as recording Skype goes, it's still in the works. The Sound Separation feature in Freecorder Toolbar makes it harder to remix the audio from separate parts of the Skype call. Best Regards, -End of Response- Thank you. What is Freecorder Toolbar 3 is explained here
Thank you to Leslie B. for this one. A user explains the FCT3 Sound Recorder below. http://www.geek.com/ Review: Freecorder records any audio played on your PC for free by JoelGeek posted on August 21, 2007 7:06 am Applian Technologies just announced Freecorder , a free audio capture program for Windows Vista and XP. The program installs as a tool bar and lets you press the record button at any time you want to start recording. In addition, you can stream live Internet audio stations and record those, too. In my tests I installed Freecorder, restarted Firefoxit works in IE, tooand then was greeted with the new tool bar. I clicked the play button next to the drop down and was listening to music instantly. I then clicked the record button and an MP3 recording of what I was listening to was created on the fly. It really is that easy! I then went to Pandora.com , allowed Pandora.com to create a channel for me, and then as soon as it started streaming, I pressed the record button again. Instantly, I had a recording of my favorite artist in crisp MP3. If MP3 isnt your thing, then you can select WAV as the output, and if you want to record audio from other sources, then you can do that, too (see the Settings picture below). freecorder3.jpg According to Applian, before Vista you could install custom sound card drivers that would allow you to capture audio on your PC . However, with Vista its either difficult or impossible to capture the audio, so the company came up with this new tool bar. Speaking of the tool bar, it was created in partnership with Conduit, so it has a bunch of sharing / social networking-type functions built-in. freecorder2.jpg Heres a picture of it recording in real-time I cant say enough good things about this program. First, its free. Second, its insanely easy to use. I was literally recording seconds after restarting my browser. The only drawback I found is it does make your browser a little more busy, since its a whole new tool bar. However, there are a bunch of features in this new tool bar, so you may find yourself enjoying the free enhancements to your browsing experience. freecorder1.jpg Heres a clip of the tool barI grabbed the half with the recording pieces Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Freecorder Toolbar 3 Answer for Darrell all
I Darrell Listers This is the new Freecorder Toolbar 3 Sound Recorder and NOT the old and very different Freecorder 2 version. The new and free Freecorder Toolbar 3 works within your browser. The older Freecorder 2 program you run yourself. It has some minor issues and hopefully some scripts will be written for this older version. Can't guarantee it yet. Do you understand me now? I did some podcasts on this new Freecorder Toolbar 3 program and remember its new and their could be some bugs in it. I cannot guarantee its going to be perfect. The Windows Vista Anti-Recording Conspiracy Thwarted
August 21, 2007 The Windows Vista Anti-Recording Conspiracy Thwarted For several years now, the ability to record audio on new Windows PC's has slowly eroded, until it's become virtually impossible to record anything but your Microphone on new Windows Vista machines. Recording streaming audio, or sounds from any application, simply couldn't be done. But today, that has changed. Today is the official release day for Freecorder Toolbar Sound Recorder , our new free audio recording application that makes audio recording in Vista (and XP for that matter) better and more accessible for everyone. To understand why this is a big deal, it's helpful to know a little about the technology behind sound recording. But if you've recently bought a new Windows PC and tried to record audio, you've learned what I'm about to tell you the hard way. Recording audio is traditionally done two ways: either by using a loopback line exposed by the sound card in your PC, or by using a third party program that creates its own Sound Card Driver. The loopback method has been slowly phased out, even with XP machines. There used to always be a What U Hear, Stereo Mix, Wave Out Mix or similar recording line on every sound card installed in every new PC, which hundreds of applications could use to record sounds. Then all of the sudden, many PC's shipped without loopback lines, especially with the popular RealTek cards, and millions of customers were out of luck- unless you had a recording application like Replay A/V with the Enhanced Sound Card Driver, Total Recorder or Soundtap. These specialized applications used custom written Sound Card Drivers to record, and didn't require a loopback line. However with Windows Vista, Microsoft has required that all drivers be certified and signed by Microsoft, which effectively kills this method of recording. If you own a new Vista PC with no loopback line, you are unable to record audio - until now. Our new Freecorder Toolbar Sound Recorder uses a brand new audio recording method invented by us. It works great with Vista, XP and even Windows 2000, and doesn't require any special recording line or driver - it just works. Plus, an added benefit is Freecorder Toolbar's Sound Separation technology, which isolates sounds from the application it was generated in. This means that the beep from your Instant Messenger program won't wind up in the recording from your favorite internet radio station. Our other products are getting this new technology shortly, but Freecorder Toolbar has it now, and it's totally free. Give it a try and enjoy! Mobivox service answers
My opinion only again. Read the FAQs at Mobivox.com, one of you said it only works with a mobile phone. It works with both or either one: mobile and land line phone phones. You can call your Skype contacts for free. When you register with Mobivox you are asked if you have a Skype account. You fill this part out. If you want you can do the Skype registration after you have setup the Mobivox account. All the information is on the mobivox site. Read it. Finally do your homework. Just because someone on this list says its inaccessible it doesn't mean it is. Thank you. This is a fantastic service. You can also make web calls with this service. After you tell it the number you want to call, you are asked which number you are using to call that number. This is the web call service. It calls your mobile or land phone number then dials out the destination number you want to call. SlingBox answers
1. For those of you using Jaws and Slingbox, how is the accessibility? Will I need sighted help to install and/or set it up? If you have good Jaws skills you can do it yourself. You need to famliarize yourself with SlingBox hardware'ss connectors like coax, S VHS and so on. I don't know which model you have. You can call 1-877-GO-SLING. You need to know how to open a port on your router. Port forwarding. 2. If I install Slingbox and my mom is watching something on her TV, can I watch another channel on my PC at the same time? NO. What I would tell your cable company is to run a single coaxial cable line into your room where your tv is. And connect this new cable line into the SlingBox hardware. I don't know if you have a tv set in your room and if your computer is in the same room. I have DirecTV andI have DTV Tivo box and I run a composite AV cables out of the tivo box to the SlinbBox's single AV input. 3. Do I need a TV tuner card on my PC? I do have one, so that shouldn't be a problem. NO. Sling Media requires no tv tuner card to work. 4. Is there anything else I should know before going forward with this? I would buy the additional cable box. Get the model number for the cable box. You will need it in order to do the setup process. Call Sling tech support and they will guide you to do the setup over the phone. Call them a few times before you are actually ready to do the setup. Make all proper physical connections. You also get a IR Blaster sensor. The Sling Player is accessible as you can use many keyboard shortcuts to control your cable box. ctrl+M toggles the sound. Alt+P is the player menu. The SlingPlayer has only 3 menus. Every SlingBox has a IP Finder address. When you call Sling tech support tell them you need the direct URL address for the latest SlinPlayer version so you can download it to your PC. Do not run the software. You will just download the .exe file on your hard drive. Have all connections setup and then you call tech support to continue. You do not use the CD that comes with SlingBox hardware. Note: To change a channel wthin SlingPlayer software you use your keyboard's numbers row keys. If your calbe company uses the 0 then you have to use the 0 also. Like 02 for channel 2. Jaws does not read the cable box's menus nor the program guide listings. It's all invisible. Jaws cursor doesn't work either. You can change the channels from the SlingPlayer software. Mobivox the Skype assistant
I found a fantastic phone service called Mobivox. Go to: http://www.mobivox.com You can call your Skype contacts for free from any mobile or land line phone. If you and your friends are Mobivox users then calls are free. Read the FAQs like I did. You must use mobivox within 7 days to not lose our membership. So just call a Skype contact to preserve the membership. The system works by you finding a local access number. You get the choice of British and American vox girl voice on the telephone. You can use the dial pad on the phone to make your choices. you can also use your speech to make your selections - to tell vox girl what to do for you. It uses voice recognition. For example, say who's online and vox girl will tell you all the Skype contacts that are online and you can call them on your regular phone line for free. Finally, I am only telling you about this product. This is not an endorsement to use it. If you do not like it that's fine. I am just sharing this information to the blind community. The service gives you.25 cents in credit. Write me off list and I'll be glad to test this service with you. In your message subject line put mobivox so I know its from you. Forgot to mention that you need to check the checkbox on each form there. Use keyboard key x to jump to the checkbox and press spacebar with JAWS if you cannot find it. So, press x and spacebar on the checkbox, enter your email address in edit field, and tab to the submit button. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi In the blog from May 24th you will see links click here that will lead you to the beta testing submission.
