Well, what u could do is to plug the output of a cd player into the PTR1's
input and copy it that way.

hi I have a question about this cd recorder. well a few questions.

can it record and make separate tracks. I mean can I record a mix and
seporate the tracks, meaning I want the cd to play through with
out gaps but if I want to go from track to track individually can I do
so. will the tracks have no space.
the last question how much will this cost me.
thanks so much, I think I found what I am looking for.

Re: CD Recorder

2004-11-13 Thread Kevin Shields
Yes that's true, I've been in to the mini disk format for 8 years and I
love it. I don't have the latest equipment, but I do have the home and
portable models that play the standard mini disk format, plus LP2 which
plays for 3 hours on an 80 minute mini disk, and LP4 which plays for 6
hours on an 80 minute mini disk. And the models are, the Sony MDSJE480,
that's the home model, the Sony 505 the portable model. And I even have
an MZR90 portable. It only plays the standard formatMini disks. We use
mini disks for recording our programs we play at KRCC.
Take care,

In theory that's fine but too bad if you wanted to edit something, I mean
computers and associated CD-RW'S are dirt cheap these days that you may as well
build something dedicated to recording.
I believe that their are computers around now that are quite powerful and about
the size of a shoe-box, I've heard of people using them for audio/video
recording and editing.

If you do insist on using CD's, you can get the LiteOn LVR1001, a little
dual CD deck I find very cool. One of the great features is one-touch
copying. You can copy a CD using this deck and it is virtually error-proof.
I'd have a lot of trouble reviewing it for Main Menu, simply because of it's
location. We do have a computer down there now, so I just might do it.

Perhaps a Minidisc deck would be even better. With an MD deck, one can

I suppose that (as their are so many different mediums around like Minidisc

Re: CD Recorder

2004-11-12 Thread Kristine Hickerson
Hi Andrea,

I have a Tascam stand-alone ce burner connected to my main stereo system and
anything that I can put through the stereo can be burned on to a cd.

This means my cassette deck, cd carousel, am/fm receiver, turntable and even
the music choice and tv programs from my DirecTv satellite receiver can go
to cd anytime I want.

The Tascam 700 is rather expensive, but I found the best price at Sam Ash
Music. They have an 800 number as well as a website. The 800 number is
472-6274.

Tascam has come out with a newer model than the 700, but I don't know if it
is as easy for a blind person to use.

I really like mine and I've made some cool cd's.

Re: Cd recorder that can make copies of CD's

2004-10-09 Thread mimi
I realize perhaps not everybody got a
raw deal like I did. It just happened
to me and I deeply regret the money
wasted. Sure wish people would believe
me when I tell them the equipment is not
put together right. Hey, I'm not making
this up. The record tray in the Aiwa
stand-alone machine I have is indeed in
the wrong side, and the tray without the
holes that the burner must burn the disc
through is in the player, lefthand side
of the unit. I simply do not know how
to put the tray in the right place
without breaking something else on it,
and I'm not going to pay the ridiculous
charges those repair places charge. I
just don't know anybody who could
straighten it out so now I've had the
burner in the computer for two years,
I'm not worried about it anymore. I do
everything I wanted to do on the
stand-alone on the computer instead.

Re: Cd recorder that can make copies of CD's

2004-10-09 Thread Gary G. Schindler

have had 2 stand alone burners and have used them successfully. 1 was a classic which
I bought at Circuit City, and a Sony machine which is similar in operation to the way
Sony home mini disc machines operate. I don't recall the model number of the Sony,
but you can dub a disc, record from a tape machine and a digital source such as
toslink or spdif.

Re: Cd recorder that can make copies of CD's

2004-10-09 Thread Kristine Hickerson
Hi All,

The way you solve this problem is to explain to the salesman that he/she
can't possibly know what it's going to take for you to be able to use the
specific piece of equipment. Insist on at least 30 days to experiment with
it in your home under your particular conditions and circumstances, and make
sure you can return it if it is either inaccessable or does not live up to
your expectations.

I have a stand-alone Tascam cd burner, which is very accessable and works
very well. However, it does not copy as it has only one tray but I get
great recordings of my vinyl with it and I can then copy on the computer.
It was rather expensive though, but it's a very good unit.

There is no way anyone can tell a blind
person if a CD recorder will be
accessible to them. The only thing I
have found useful and accessible is the
CD burner program and the use of a
burner on the computer. I had a bad
deal with a stand-alone recorder and
took it back to the store only to be
told there was nothing wrong with it.
After I bought a CD burner two years ago
I discovered why the stand-alone does
not record: The record tray is in the
wrong side of the machine. That's
right: The wrong side. There is no way
I can fix that, and to take it somewhere
else to get that fixed, they'll charge
you $75 before they even open it up. I
think it's ridiculous. I called Aiwa to
tell them I have a defective stand-alone
recorder, and nobody believes me. It is
not accessible to a blind person, and I
had those people tell me several times
how to do this and do that to get it to
record, but it's no good if the record
tray is in the wrong side of the machine
to begin with. That's why I'll never
buy anything at Fry's Electronics
anymore. But I also realize it could
have happened somewhere else. So, I
just use it as a backup CD player.
Anyone working in any electronics store
would not know if everything would be
accessible or useful for a blind person.
Unfortunately, you have to check it out
yourself and probably lose money in the
long run. I lost $250 on this rotten
deal. If I had known I should have
gotten a CD burner in the first place
for the computer, I would not have
monkeyed around with a stand-alone.

Cd recorder that can make copies of CD's

2004-10-09 Thread Jim Gill
Hello PC-Audio:
I would like to knowo if there is a CD recorder that is accessable to the
blind that you can listen to a CD and at the same time record songs on to
a blank CD.

I called Good Guy's and ask the saleman if there was a machine that I could
record a CD on to a blank CD and they recommend a Sony 5 CD changer that
will record a CD on to a blank CD .
Thanks
Jim
