150x is a very high speed, when you compare it with 48x speeds that CD's operate at! Dear Joe: Price of storage cards is dedtermined by where you buy them but also by the speed at which they operate and but they extra features they provide. Re: compact flash cards
Hi Everyone: I am also a proud owner of the Edirol R1. I got it from SameDayMusic which kindly included a FREE 256MB CompactFlash card as a bonus offer with my purchase. Now, does anyone have an accessible copy of this thingy's manual? I don't have access to a reader and can't learn to use this equipment as quickly as I need to. Getting ready for an overseas trip and I want to take it on the road! Second question: Can I attach a small portable speaker to the Edirol R1 so I can hear playback without using a headset or is that absolutely impossible? I have only 2-3 days left to learn how to use it, !! Joe, some popular CompactFlash cards are Lexar, Sandisk, and PNY. I have used them all and they are quite nice indeed. I don't know if they will deliver to Ireland, but try: www.memorysuppliers.com They have fairly good prices on this stuff! For anyone else wishing to purchase the Edirol R1 from SameDayMusic, they are based in New York, don't recall which city. Their contact toll-free phone number is: 1-866-744-7736; they charged me $2 for Second Day Air and it did arrive on time as promised. The cost is $429 along with a FREE 256MB CompactFlash card as I mentioned inter alia. Good luck!! Re: compact flash cards
Sandisk compact flash cards are good. I use a 2 gig one and a 4 gig one for a bookport. A place online you might look at to price and buy is www.thenerds.net You can order online or by phone. They are in Florida but have 50 distribution centers throughout the country. I ordered a flash card from them on a Wednesday morning and it arrived the next afternoon. Hope this helps. RE: Flash Cards
Depends on how much you're paying for them. You can get a 128MB one from web suppliers for about £15, ($22 in the UK, and I can't imagine that they'd be more than that in the states. Even a 1GB one you can get for less than £100, ($150. Yes, it's expensive for the large ones, however you can get a great many text files on a 128MB one, and a great many MP3/audible books on a 1GB one.
