Re: I need help installing rockbox

2007-04-29 Thread Brandon Hicks
Hi David,
Installing Rockbox on the IPod doesn't take more than 3 minutes. All you
have to do is run a program, hit a few keys, then copy and paste a
directory and a file. The big part is replacing your music if it's in
protected format if you have a lot of it.
I'd certainly be willing to help you through it if you needed any help,
but I can't see a reason to ship your IPod to someone for a 3 minute, if
not less, install.

Re: I need help installing rockbox

2007-04-28 Thread David Tanner
So, does anyone know someone who would be willing to install Rock Box on an
IPod for me. I don't think I have the time or patience to do it, but if
someone has done this before and would be willing to do it for me I would like
to talk to them about what they would charge to do that.

Hi
No problem. If you need any help with the 340, I'll do my best. I've
never actually done an install, but I can certainly try, or there's
always the rockbox list.

I need help installing rockbox

2007-04-26 Thread Don Ball
Hello. I am working with an iaudio x5. Here is what I have done. I went to
the rockbox site and downloaded the boot loader two Firmware. the file was
x5fw.bin. Next I went and got the rockbox software for the x5. The file was
called rockbox.zip. I unzipped the Rockbox software to the root directory
and It created a folder called rockbox. I then went and got a voice file and
installed it in the langs directory in the rock box folder. I went and
installed the fonts directory after the player didn't work right the first
time and still nothing.
I didn't copy the rockbox.iaudio to the root however. I let the firmware
update the player and turned the player on. Now the player speaks a bit but
It is like it is stuck in the main menu and not the play menu or the folder
view menu where it should be. What Am I doing wrong? Could some one send me
the necessary files to do this job or do I have the corect files?
I was able to put the old firmware back on but I would really like to
install rockbox and have it work. If I get my friends player right I plan to
buy my own.

Hi,
What you need to do is first of all place the x5fw.bin in the firmware
directory. Plug in the power cord before you paste that in there. Unplug
the USB and turn the player off. Turn it back on again and that part
should be done. Then, if you have the latest daily build, which is what
you need, for the IAudio X5, copy and paste the .rockbox directory into
the root and put the english.voice, again from a daily build, into the
langs directory. You'll need to go to files to find your music, and
resume playback once you've got stuff going.

what will come up initially?
I seem to go directly in to the main menu but I can't access anything. If I
move up and down Some things speak and some don't and when I move left and
right I seem to tree in to and out of the menus. Boy I like this new build
of jaws 8. Finally it is working right.- Original Message -
