Question about meta data displaying in Winamp using JAWS and a braille display.
Hi folks! I'm wondering if someone can help me with an issue I'm having. I have a friend who wants to see the metadata information on his braille display using Winamp. He says JAWS reads it to him, but the braille display is not showing him the information even though JAWS reads it. Is there a way to make this happen?
Meta Data
Hello all, How can I learn about meta data as it relates to CD information on my computor. My wife has a mp3 player that uses the meta data, not the file and folder names to display content. I would like to be able to produce my own meta data for these Casettes I recorded to my PC and then sent to the player. I thought if I named the main folder as the artist, the subfolder as the album, and the files by the song name, that was all I had to do. Apparently metadata is something different. Re: Meta Data
These are called ID3 tags. One place where you can read up on them is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3#Editing_ID3_tags Usually your CD ripper will connect to a DB and prepopulate your ID3 tags for you. What CD ripper are you using? Also, media library applications, like Winamp and Windows Media Player will let you edit your ID3 tags and even make global changes. I know you can have your music stored in files and folders based on the ID3 tags, but I'm not sure you can go the other way, such as update your ID3 tags based on the folders and files where your music is stored. I know they can use this data to populate empty ID3 tags, so maybe you can do what you want with one of these applications. If you're using Windows, you can edit your ID3 tabs through Windows Explorer. Just use alt+enter to bring up the properties view and control+tab over to the tab that has your ID3 tags. In addition to Winamp and Windows Media Player, there are other applications you can use to make global changes to your ID3 tags. For example, in Ubuntu, I use a tool called EasyTag. Mp3 Meta Data Question
Hi List, I have a question regarding meta tags in mp3 files. What is the logic to have all that information such as artist and title embedded in the files when artist and title are present in the standard artist and title ei: the file's name? I'm just curious. I would think that with the information in the file names the tag data would be unnecessary and it would make things simpler with out all those tagging issues etc. This is just one of those questions I am rather academically curious about. Can anyone scratch this itch? RE: Mp3 Meta Data Question
The file name can be anything at all allowed by whatever operating system you use. The meta infromation gives you more info about the file than you could reasonably (or possibly) fit into a file name in *any operating system. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dave Marthouse Sent: Monday, July 21, 2008 12:26 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Re: Mp3 Meta Data Question
Thanks for the answer. I was under the impression that that it was duplication of information. I didn't think of the other data that can be imbedded as well. Thanks again. I just wasn't thinking it completely through. Re: Meta Data
Bye metadata I assume you mean ID3 tag information? If so, in media player, browse to the track in your library, hit the applications key and select edit tag.
