I admit that I have not read every item in this thread, but now I am
curious. Is there anyone on here who has heard or owned both the p5 and
the p7? I heard the p5, although I don't own a set, and they were
pretty darned nice. But reviews seem to indicate that the 7 is a
significant step up. I'm always a bit skeptical of reviews that are
over the top with their praise. And there is no longer a store in town
that has BW products. So it'd be mail order all the way if I decide to
get a pair some time later this year. I think the p5 is still made, if
I'm not mistaken. Any comments?

Re: BW P7.

That's quite alright Mary, I wrote about the BW P7 from my own personal
experiences through hearing them, if they're available for $300 then
best Grab Them Whilst They're Hot, you're not - in my view - going to
get a closed pair of cans that sound as good as this for $300 I don't think.

I've read one review of the P7 and I didn't think it over the top, if
anything the author of the review wondered what BW could have done with
those cans had they not paid such detailed attention to the build
quality, is there anything that needs to be done?

Re: BW P7.

2015-05-17 Thread Dane Trethowan
Yep I agree with pretty much all of that, if you do want to use them for
travelling - and you have a Smart Phone - then there are Apps that can
enable the Microphone of the BW P7 so that you can hear what's going on
around you, the App works in the background.

There are advantages to these close headphones, for one thing you hear
the sound from the cans and there's no interference from other noises
like a train engine, other people talking etc - in my view its a far
better solution than noise cancelling - but it does come with
disadvantages as does everything I guess.

I didn't realise these cans were now so cheap, BW must be really keen
to push those things and I again I say, at that price - if you're
looking for a most reasonable pair of cans - then jump down to your
local store and pick up a pair.

Re: BW P7.

2015-05-17 Thread Dane Trethowan

I should have mentioned this in the last email as its so obvious.

We get a lot of questions regarding the sound of BW products and how
they sound.

I can honestly say that - given I own 3 different BW products - you've
heard one then you have a fair idea of how the others will sound.

So I'll put that into context a little futher, I have the BW Z2
IOS/AirPlay dock which sounds bloody nice - the sound it gives out is
astonishing given that the machine only has 2 speaker drivers, one for
left and one for right. -

Okay, so that's very basic BW sound, very good but even better than
that is the BW A5 AirPlay speaker system I have which is mid-range, it
extends on that basic sound of the Z2 and of course soudns even better
given that it has 4 drivers in total, 2 for bass-mid range and 2
tweeters, incredibly nice.

Now if you want to go further up the chain with your speaker system then
the A7 is the top of the line and it sounds utterly brilliant though I
still don't own one, I have heard one and there's more difference in the
sound given the A7 has bigger drivers than the A5 as well as the
addition of a sub-woofer, go eat your heart out and and party on smile.

If you have a Z2, A5 or A7 then you have some of the best AirPlay/IOS
speaker technology and quality available today, no joke and no fooling.

.All these speaker systems have Aux-In jacks so you can connect an
external source but the A7 goes a few steps further with a USB port for
a memory stick full of music and an Optical digital in, just right for
that CD Player, optical out of a computer etc.

I don't know whether the USB port of the A7 can be connected to a
computer but I suspect it can, when I get one I'll read the manual smile.
