RE: Total Recorder: Appending To A File

2006-01-02 Thread Caroline Ford
Dean and Fazil,

Thanks to your help, I have at last found how to append to a file in Total
Recorder, rather than over-writing the original file.

In case anyone else wants to know how to do this, the steps are as follows
(I am using the Standard edition, so things may vary for those using Pro):

1. Go to the Options menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Highlight Open/Save from the list and press Tab seven times.
4. In the list of radio buttons entitled "Action for making new recording
over previous one", choose the third radio button, Append, and then tab once
more to OK and select it.

I've just tested this and it works fine. Hope it might be of use to someone
else.

Caroline.

Hi. Make sure that Append to recording is active, as opposed to
Insert, on the play/Record menu. Then hit Ctrl-End to go to the end
of the current recording. Now record, and the new recording should
be appended to the original.

I just did it and it works, with V5.3 Pro, and I don't think this is
a limited feature.

Hello,

I've now tried to append to an existing file in Total Recorder. I have
the

file on my hard drive, open it in TR and press Record. When I finish
recording and save the file, the original file is over-written with the
recording I have just made - the original contents of the file have
disappeared.

Is there something else I need to do to make sure I keep the original
contents of the file and the new contents are just added to the end of
what

was already there?

Thanks,

Caroline.

the answer to both questions is yes, you can append and you can join
files together.

I always append to an existing file in Total Recorder4x standard with no
problem whatsoever! You'll have to save changes when you are done which you
would do anyway.
