Re: mad plugin

2007-02-19 Thread Larry Higgins
Hank,

I have sent you a copy of the plugin in a .zip file, which also
contains the source code. I am not a coder, but maybe you'll find it useful.

I must also tell all of you that it is necessary to either rename or
delete the Winamp mp3 decoder plugin in order for MAD to work
properly. You will also need to restart Winamp. If this should
present any problems, You will have to either work them out, or just
forget it I guess .

Re: mad plugin

2007-02-19 Thread Larry Higgins
Hank,

Go to the output tab in the mad configuration dialog box, and tab
down a couple and you should hear it. I also have the enable internal checked

Keep in mind, I'm not as technically minded as some of you on the
list, so I would just encourage some experimentation with this plugin
until you get it right.

I did have some rather interesting experience with mad apparently
conflicting with the direct sound output plugin. When at first using
the plugin, I had no trouble, but after a week or so, at times I
couldn't use the DSO, but after linking eq to winamp, the problem
went away. And a couple of days ago, I had a Window-eyes sound crash,
and had to reboot the puter, and after doing so, the DSO once again
stopped working. However, the next day it mysteriously started
working again. Why? Your guess is as good as mine

Hopefully your listening experience will be just that much more
enjoyable with this plugin. But if not, you couldn't prove it by me.
Just give it your best shot.

Larry

RE: mad plugin

2007-02-19 Thread Larry Higgins
The mad decoder plugin lets you listen to mp3 files in 24 bit
resolution if your sound card will let you.

I understand that it presents problems in the display of ID3 tag
information and the like, which is why some don't care for it, but
the vast improvement in the listening is definitely worth it in my
humble opinion.

If at first you do not notice a difference in the resolution of your
music, then make sure you have everything set as I have tried to explain below.

Keep in mind that I am using the equalizer with the rock setting. I
also have my midrange cranked up quite high. In high quality mp3
encodes, your bass response should really increase.

Anyway, needless to say, your mileage may vary.
