RE: A Total Recorder Question

2009-11-25 Thread Milton Ota
Yes, it is possible to change the bit rate and format--when you pull the
files menu down, click save as, then tab over until you land on change.

Open the change and you should land on a list box to change the format, keep
tabbing over and you'll see some of the other changes you can make to the
file.

Hope this helps.

Subject: A Total Recorder Question

Hello list: I have "Total Recorder" on my Windows XP machine; I love it for
recording things..but seems to me that it'll do other things as well; one of
the things I'm wondering about is being able to convert files..or changing
the bit rate..is it possible to be able to do this with Total Recorder? Am
running Jaws 11. Thanks ahead of time!

And if so, could someone tell me exactly (step by step)..how this is done?
Thanks.

It should work for any of the supported file formats that Total Recorder
will recognize, wav, wma, ogg (requires a plug-in) etc.

No, he doesn't have two sound cards it seems, I'm just wondering if he
has the wrong input selected somehow and that's not hard to do either as
Total Recorder's methods can be a little tricky to deal with at times,
it seems to me that the "What You Hear" option may be selected in which
case you either unselect that and select something else in Total
Recorder or you manually select the input in your "Volume Control"
settings, use "properties" in "Volume control" to adjust your sound card
or devices "Record" settings.

Re: A Total Recorder Question

2009-11-26 Thread Dane Trethowan
Right so now we know where we're at , yes you can do that but you'll
need to alter a few settings, some of this has already been addressed.

Load your file into Total Recorder first if its a wav, mp3, Flac, or whatever
then Total Recorder should be able to handle it.

Now from the file menu select "Save as", enter a file name and tab to the
"change" button, here's where you make changes to sampling rate, format and so
on, there are already some presets there by default but you may need to create
an entirely new one for your specific purposes, once done get out of that
dialogue box and press the "Save" button, saves you having to record from
Windows Media Player or, Winamp or anything else.

Hope this helps.

Re: A Total Recorder Question

2009-11-26 Thread Tom Kaufman
I'm talking about a file that I have on my external hard drive; I have it in
a folder..what I'd like to do is to change the bit rate. But how do I
connect it with "Total Recorder?" This file is in no way connected with
Total Recorder. Hopefully I have cleared this up!

RE: A Total Recorder Question

2009-11-26 Thread Milton Ota
Tom,

Let me ask you this, do you know what is the file extention that you are
trying to open in Total Recorder?

Do you know where the file is saved and how to navigate to the file when you
use the Open File option under the file menu?

Is your copy of Total Recorder a Registered copy?

I don't think you have answered these questions so that people on the list
can help you better.

If your copy of Total Recorder is not Registered, there are certain
functions that will not work properly where you are using the Standard or
Professional.

Please forgive me for showing my ignorance..but I'm just not understanding

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is what I was looking for (and apparently wasn't
asking it right)..now then..if I want to change the bit rate of a file, do
these same instructions generally apply? Thanks!

I spoke too soon; I can get as far as doing the control-O to open and then
look for my file. But then..once I've found the file, "Alt-F" does nothing!
What am I doing wrong?

Re: A Total Recorder Question

Success! It worked! This all started when this particular tune wouldn't
play in one of the music rooms at a site called VIP Conduit! I had heard
that, sometimes by changing the bit rate, a file would then play! Oh but I
never knew how to do it (I know some people have "Gold Wave"..and do file
conversions that way. Then I remembered that I had heard that Total
Recorder would do this; since I'm on this PC Audio list, I figured I'd see
if there was anybody here that could explain how this process was done!
Thank you all for your indulgence!

Re: A Total Recorder Question

2009-11-26 Thread Dane Trethowan
not at all! that's what we're all here for .

Total Recorder and Goldwave I have to say are probably some of the most
amazingly priced titles in the audio tools shopping basket I've ever seen for
Windows. I can't comment on Total Recorder Standard edition because I've never
used it but I can say that Total Recorder Professional is an incredibly
powerful and flexible application, not just for recording now but for editing,
adding effects, processing and converting audio, all that for $35.00. goldwave
is just value for money handed to you on a plate if you're doing professional
audio editing, combined with the Multiquence software you have a studio in the
palm of your hand for less than $100.00.

Kind listers,

Can anybody please tell me the easiest way to append an mp3 file to the
beginning of another mp3 file using Total Recorder? This has become
necessary due to a technical problem with my Internet connection this
morning. There was a brief interruption, and I would like to put the file
in its proper place... Well, you get the point .

Your help will be greatly appreciated,

you use the insert file options. I think you can insert a fille at the
beginning, at the current position and at the end of the file.

You can edit mp3 files with TR without reencoding. I'm not sure about
other formats. I plan to check into that some time in the near future.
