My turtle beach internal is supposed to have optical in and out. I'm not sure what those connectors are like. I find 2 square things that stick out a ways that feel like they have a tiny holl in the middle where a pin on a cable might fit in. I wanted to use mine with my Iriver H120 mp3 player/recorder because my stereo mix is of real low quality for some reason as compared to the speakers. Hi Stephen. I've got an AV unit in the room next door which has satellite television on it. The Engineer has plugged in 2 Optical cables for me. One for audio out and one for audio in. I was hoping to play music and audio described movies from my computer through the wall to the av unit. I was also wanting to record on my computer, using GoldWave, AD movies that may be showing on the TV. Unfortunately, the sound card I purchased only has an optic out and a line in. Although I could still do what I wanted, I thought that the optic connection would give me better quality sound reproduction. Best wishes. Hi again Stephen. I have the Creative SoundBlaster Live, 24 bit external card. This card has two optical out's and a line in, but no optical line in. It's quite a nice device and I have Creative 5.1 speakers to go with it. I think it cost about £80.00 Best wishes. I use JFW 6.2. Of course most of the sliders in their software are custom so they don't speak, but some of the settings do. That seems odd to have 2 optical outs. I thought 5.1 is normally all in one of those. the audigy2nx also from creative does have both optical in and out, as well as the SPdif out, line-in and mic in, it also has outputs for standard and 5.1 speaker systems. personally, I prefer the alisis IO2 usb soundcard, as whilst it doesn't have the analogue 5.1 output of the audigy, and has spdif in and out, rather than the optical ones, it does have actual level controls for left and right input channels, main output, headphone output, and monitor mix, it also has actual switches for selecting your recording source, such as spdif, mic or line, so there is no need to have to mess around selecting which ever one in the windows volume control, muting and unmuting things to see if signals are at the right levels, or keep plugging in and unplugging things. its mic sockets are on XLR's with phantom power if needed, its line-in and line-out's are on left and right quarter inch jack sockets for better quality, and it also has insert sockets for super easy adding of hardware such as eq's, compressor/limiters, or other effects. Hi Andy before I settled on my soundblaster live 24 bit external souncard, I bought one of those audigy nx usb devices, but found that it sounded awful wwith jaws, so beware. However if you're listening to jaws via another soundcard, it might well do the job for you. Sorry I can't confirm that it does have optical in and out as I didn't get around to using them. nevertheless, several users have reported the same sound problem on the jaws list. The sound reverberates at the end of sentances which is very annoying. The problem cannot be rectified by updating the motherboard or sound card drivers, which means that one is left with an unusable system. yes, it looks like they have called the optical in and out SPdif, and have called the other digital out SPdif/rca. it does have optical in and outs, I do actually have one on another machine, so I know it does.
