Hello sunshine!
Well, first of all, how do you want them, do you want them powered with AC
or is it battery driven speakers you want? I have a pare of powered
speakers, which are quite small, but they have a great sound just for the
sake of MP3 listening and so on, I can look up the brand for you, but they
have power from the wall, but they're portable.
I'll let you know about the brand when I have a sighted person who can look
it up for me.

be used with an mp3 player.
that has a 3.5 mm jack.
does anyone have any good ideas, brand names model numbers and prices?
if so i would like to hear from you about them.

Why not try wireless speakers! You simply plug in a small transmitter into
your IPod, and you can place the speakers in any part of the room, and they
come with an AC adaptor, or they can be battery powered. Sold at Radio Shak
or the Source in Canada. Often go on sale for half the retail price. . .

Re: portable amplified speaker system for mp3 players

2010-03-27 Thread Dane Trethowan
Portable speaker systems are one of those items which are terribly subjective,
there are very good and there are very bad.

As far as a portable solution goes I like my old and faithful Panasonic RXED50
power blaster connected up to an Ipod, computer, Iphone, Digital radio or
whatever and - in my opinion - even though this device is getting onto 10 years
old there ain't much around to beat it I'm afraid and that proves 2 things.
Yep, things are becoming cheaper and unfortunately quality isn't always getting
any better and secondly, "you's gets what you's pay's for", the RXED50 from
Panasonic is still Panasonic's flagship ghetto blaster but its not the cheapest
selling in Australia still for a RRP of $329.00 but its certainly the best
portable sound for its size I've heard.

I did a review on this item about 2 years ago for blind cool tech, should be
still in the archives but if it ain't then I can send it to anyone who is
interested, I wrote a review at one time for the pc-audio list as well and I
remember some of the list members did some research as to the availability of
this unit in the United States, it had to be imported from Canada but I'm sure
that some list members did look at or buy some of these units.

As for FM transmitters for an Ipod? My Sister got my old Ipod Nano machine and
she bought a FM transmitter which plugs into the dock for $5.00 so they're not
expensive.

Hi Sunshine,

We have the Digipower Mini Stereo Speakers for $18.99 on our site at:
http://www.talkingmp3players.com/accessories.html

These speakers use 1 double-A battery, and the headphone jack sticks
out of the side of the speakers, so you can just plug it into your MP3
player, portable radio, laptop/netbook, or any portable audio device
with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. There are no wires to mess about with.
It's a cylindrical design with the stereo speakers on either end.

The sound is amplified so that one doesn't have to listen with
headphones on. One is free to roam about the room while listening or
share your audio with someone else. They're very portable as they fit
in your pocket.

Take a look at the website for more information.

Re: portable amplified speaker system for mp3 players

2010-03-28 Thread Laz Mesa
Hi John,

If you're looking for tiny plug-in speakers with audiophile qualities,
I'm afraid you'll probably have to spend megabucks if you can even
find such an animal. You won't find much bass in most tiny plug-in
speakers. I compared these to another plug-in speaker selling for
nearly twice as much and found these to be better in the bass
department and in the stereo separation department, but they're still
tiny plug-in speakers and will sound tinny when compared to a
higher-quality and bigger set of speakers.

I personally use these for when I wish to listen to an audiobook
without having the headphones on and while I'm doing something else in
the room. You could use them for listening to music, but don't expect
it to sound like a stereo system.

Hope that answers your question.

2010-03-29 Thread Richard Claypool
How can someone make a demo of how speakers sound? basicly, you'd be
hearing them through a microphone, so it's pointless. Heck, speakers can
have different effects depending on what kind of room they're put in.

They cost about $39. the speakers are retangular with battery pack made to
work also as the stand.

This is recorded on my Voicenote Empower. Unfortunately, I do not have a
stereo microphone.
