the iriver h series recorders come the closest to your specs but you can't
control them with the pc.

Hi all,
I am in the market for digital recorder that can record more than 30 to 40
hours, can run on batteries for 15 to 20 hours, includes a good microphone
which is also suitable for recording sounds outdoors and offers the facility
to set its options from the computer. I should be able to save the files in
mp3 either on the device directly or with the use of a software that is
accessible to a certain extent. It would be nice if the recorder had a
facility to add SD or MMC Cards but that is not an important criteria.
