Digital TV Tuners and Converter Boxes

2008-11-03 Thread Gary King
With the digital TV change-over happening in the US next February, I would
like recommendations on digital TV tuners for the PC and digital to analog
converter boxes to connect to a couple of Zenith Talking VCRs. Of course,
accessibility is a prime consideration for both. I would prefer to connect
the tuner to the PC via USB, but would consider a PCI card. The converter
box should be able to pass through video description and have a button on
the remote to switch to such description. AFB and Access World is supposed
to review 4 boxes later this month, but I already have my coupons, and I
don't want to get too close to their expiration date.

Hi.
The date is extended to like 2010 or so now according to a recording I heard
on ACB, unless I misunderstood.

I thought radios with this in existed, but those will quit working in
February of next year because of the digital switch over thing.

 Hi,
Hopefully I will be going to the colorado nfb center soon as I am
 involved
with the cliant assistance program now and they have lawyers. My question
 is
this. I want to get a portable television to take out there with me. I
 won't
pay for cable. I will just use an antenna and get local broadcast over
 the
air channels 2 through 69. Is there some cheap tv, or audio tuner that
 will
also let me receive the SAP second audio programming for descriptive
 video
on pbs, cbs, ABC and NBC and fox? Since I'm blind i don't really need the
video, so an audio tv tuner with SAP will due if someone can suggest such
 a
thing or if such a thing exists.

Hi,
yes radios that do this do exist. you can get them from fm-atlas. But I
think if the radios that can pick up tv channels 2 through 69 over the air
programming want to continue existing, they need a port or connector that
will let them connect a dtv converter box into them.

TV tuners?

2007-10-05 Thread Carliss
Hello Listers,
I have winFast Tv tuner and tried to use it, but it will not work with Jaws8
the latest update. So is there a TV tuner that jaws likes and gets along
with that I may purchase?
this is kind of important.
I know about windows media center, but I don't have that OS on my computer
at this time.
By the way, it doesn't matter whether its USB or PCI.
Thanks,
Carliss

Amanda, don't quote me on this, but I think you may have problems running XP
Media Edition with JAWS 7. I seem to remember hearing that you really should
be using a JAWS Professional product to make proper use of the Media
Edition.

I could be totally wrong about this, but perhaps you should contact your
nearest Freedom Scientific dealer to check up on this.

Regards.
