Leadtek Winfast HDTV2000 TV Tuner card revisited
Hi everyone! I promised the list I'd write more on this device as I found out more about the many features available through the software as I continued to learn how to use the system so here's something else which I've discovered. With digital TV in Australia, viewers have access to an EPG (Electronic Programme guide), the Winfast system takes advantage of this EPG, you're supposed to be able to "click" on a programme of interest and the software automatically schedules this programme to be recorded at the appropriate time. Well I haven't worked out how to do that yet but what I have found out is that if you start a recording manually or schedule a recording to be made without specifying a file name for the recording, the Winfast software uses the EPG to formulate an appropriate filename. For example, let's look at Saturday's EPG in Melbourne Victoria, specifically Saturday afternoon and we see that ABC1 is broadcasting VFL football from 1 in the afternoon so if I manually started recording from that point or set the scheduler to start recording from that time or from any time during the duration of the VFL Football programme, without a specified filename, the Winfast software would automatically save the recorded content to a file with a given date and time plus the name of the programme as gathered from the EPg, the file name would look something like this, "Video 2008-06-09 ABC VFL Football.mpg". Lots more to discover yet but unfortunately my playtime is severely restricted as I'm looking after a sick Mother and I'm spending a lot of time away from home, commuting to Merimbula and back etc but I'll get there eventually . -- Dane Trethowan From Melton Victoria Australia mailto:"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" phone (+61 3) 9005 8589 Fax (+61 3) 9743 7954 Mobile/SMS (+61 418) 773 532 MSN [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype callto:grtdane12 ** Jonathan Mosen List Founder Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Try http://www.istore.com.au and you'll be looking at about $120.00, you may even be able to get it cheaper than that. constantine (on laptop) wrote: > Oh, wow. More on the Leadtek Winfast HDTV2000 Video Capture TV Tuner Card
Hi Everyone! Ok, only been home for 12 hours but I've been playing for most of that time , I'll bomb out later on today no doubt. Thanks for all the email regarding this device, I didn't think so many people would be interested so here follows some more observations I've made about the device thus far. I did tell you that I'd gone as far as scheduling broadcasts to be recorded with this tuner, you can also have the tuner burn the recording straight to a blank DVD, that's extremely useful if you plan to play the DVD on a player at a later time. Someone wrote to me privately regarding scanning for channels, you can do this easily by pressing f2 from the main screen, a "scan channels" dialogue box pops up, you can select your country and then your city, not just capital cities but regional centres and cities close to transmission towers are mentioned, i guess these locations also adjust the sensitivity control which exists in this dialogue box. When you've selected your ountry and city press the scan button and the scan takes place, takes about 1-2 minutes to complete. Now this is for the digital TV tuner and not the analogue TV tuner, the card has both and (to be quite honest), I'd want to use analogue when digital is on offer in your location , you'll get a far better picture (if anyone is interested I can attach a sample of some of the video this card records, I have 10 seconds of it recorded here and its about 5.5MB in length, the card records in uncompressed MPG video format by default though this can be changed.) So just to wet your appetite even further, here's a brief list of some of the shortcuts on offer. F1 Help f2 scanning settings f8 EPg (electronic Programme Guide) f9 Scheduler f10 Capture settings (image) f11 Video settings f12 General Settings a Audio Control h Video control s Audio Control (stereo/mono) Up arrow, Channel Up Down Arrow, Channel down Left Arrow, Decrease Volume Right Arrow, Increase Volume There are others of course and they're all listed in the help file. I have sighted assistance coming tomorrow and then the fun starts, we'll get to work on the remote controller which came with the card. -- Dane Trethowan From Melton Victoria Australia mailto:"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" phone (+61 3) 9005 8589 Fax (+61 3) 9743 7954 Mobile/SMS (+61 418) 773 532 MSN [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype callto:grtdane12 ** Jonathan Mosen List Founder Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
