hi, At times I come across good audio books in the mp3 format. typically
they are named or numbered and stored in a single folder. but which player
is capable of playing these regarding to the following criteria? 1. they
should be played in the right alphanummerical order they are stored in. 2.
you should be able to pause your reading, end the program, and continue from
the right spot the next time you want to listen. 3. you should be able to

I heard somewhere that there is a plugin for winamp called pacemaker which
would allow you to change the speed of the audio book?

When using Jaws you have the ability to set bookmarks in different files

Re: how do you play mp3 audio books?

2009-12-29 Thread dan thompson
Oh, I do use my laptop for reading books. I just put them in a folder and
name them starting with the 01, 02 etc. Then I use Winamp to play them all
by selecting using shift plus ctrl plus end to make sure the tracks are
played from top to bottom. However, the ability to start where I left off
has been difficult in the past. However, I hear that the new winamp allows
for bookmarking whick I am going to try sometime this next week. This would
allow for returning to the last place read iin a book.

Hi, I use the victor stream and name each file as 01, 02, 03 etc and put
them in the music, digital books or other books folders. You can speed
up or slow down the book and return to the last place you read. When
turning on the unit, you are placed at the last location you were reading
in the book.

I record my own all the time, in fact, DAISY books are just mp3 files with
control information files to help control the parameters of reading and
finding, I.E. titles, and levels of navigation.

Hi Jeff!
I don't know the exact answer to your question, but your wife might want to
try the GS player for the pocket PC. It can be obtained from the downloads
section of pacmategear.com. It may have a bookmark feature, but I'm not sure
since I just installed it. It's great for blind and sighted people because
all of the options are available through the menus. Give it a try. Good
luck!

Believe it or not, there are other players. I do not know the URL for this
one, but you can get GS player, which automatically bookmarks if you will
the spot where you stop the audio file. It also plays and streams Ogg
Vorbis, and does in fact stream mp3...Yes, it can be done on a Pac Mate.
Thanks
