Multiquence is not accessible at all. For professional purpuses, Jonathan is right, gold standard is Sonar. But otherwise, don't forget n-track. From everything I have seen so far, Gold wave is a very good sound editor, and that is it's primary purpose. I would recommend sonar for multi-tracking. Learning the program can be a bit overwhelming and quite daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will find that you can do a lot with it. There are certain things that I use certain programs for. I even use adobe audition 1.5 for some equalization and tone generation. Not true, Bruce. Programs such as Sonar allow you to, for example, record a piano track today, a flute track tomorrow, etc. After all tracks are recorded, you can make changes to each track as you see fit. From there, you can mix it all down to a wav file, MP3 file or some other format. Now, let's say that you play the audio file and say to yourself, Oops, that vocal track is too loud. With Sonar, you can reload the project, lower the volume on that vocal track and save a new audio version of the project. With Goldwave, multitracking requires the use of several sound windows. Sort of. You should really have a dedicated multitrack audio editor. A good open source and free program is Audacity. That's the short answer. The somewhat longer answer is in a way. You can mix tracks together, do voiceovers, and so on. I mix my radio shows together (samples at www.totw.net) entirely using Gold Wave. I have mixed vocals together on karaoke tracks. It's not as intuitive as a true multitrack program, which is why the short answer is the correct short answer, but can be done to a limited degree.
