To play ogg files in a standard stereo, you will have to burn normal audio CD's. Many people like mp4, but that format has more licensing issues than did mp3. Converting a file from one compressed format to another will *not* make it sound any better; in fact, you're liable to make it sound much worse. If you find an audio compression scheme you likem convert your files into that format at the outset. Stephen, you wrote: > but Iriver is the only company making the attempt at supporting ogg > files. And they do it very well, at least on their hard drive players. I listen to a lot of low bit rate OGG files on my IHP-100 and they sound really fine. There are a couple of other companies, which support OGG Vorbis. The best known is Rio Audio, which supports the format on their Rio Karma hard disk player. However, I read about quite a few stability issues of the Karma at www.riovolution.com and I therefore wouldn't go for it. <*** Michael Lang ***> ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: ogg to mp3 converter
If you can't find anything else to do this for you, you might try the Lame mp3 encoder plugin for Winamp if that's the media player you use. By default Winamp will play Ogg files. So if you select the output plugin as being the Lame mp3 encoder and configure it with your choice in settings, when you click on the various .ogg files they should output to .mp3.
