I have it now so can't really go back , was cheap enough at $120.00, its very fast at loading Blue-Ray content I have to say and picture quality from those who have seen it is very good - can't judge it myself of course . - On 15/10/2013, at 10:07 PM, "Tim Grady" wrote: > Don't settle on the play station simply because of the updates. Re: BlueRay Players
Hi I have been using a PS3 as a blue ray player for the last year or so. The player is slightly bigger than the standard set top box and it has 2 buttons only, eject and on/off. I bought a sony remote to control it and this works fine but does depend on how much sight you have. I say this because a recent upgrade changed the sequence of buttons i needed to press to access the player. My kids do use it as their main games console as well so it did make a lot of sense financially. Will definitely need some sight for set up and orientation. RE: BlueRay Players
If you've seen the receiver of a Bose Lifestyle system, then that's what a PS3 is like. Now, as for controlling it, yes you can from the remote, and I'm not too sure about the front. I can ask though. I can't tell you what this feels like since I haven't done it. I do have a regular Sony BD Player, and it's just like any DVD player use to be. Now, If PS is the way you think you want to go, then why not weight for the PS4? Or even the X Box 1 now I think of it. Whilst we are on this subject, may I just bring it back to PC for a moment? I want to rant about Power DVD. It's not accessible any more. The newer it gets, the worse it gets. Well, at least now you can start the movie, kind of, and you can pause should you have to go to the bathroom or something. But You can't skim threw the movie, and as far as I recall, you can't skip chapters. So much for using a Home Theater PC for Blu-Ray. Now, some say VLC can play BDs' is that so? Has any one here tried it? -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: Monday, September 23, 2013 2:07 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: BlueRay Players Hi! Re: BlueRay Players
While the PS3 may sound attractive, for us in Australia the questions that are probably more relevant are: will the player play disks from all regions and is it affordable? I say this because I am regretting that I bought a Sony blu-ray player that plays Region 3 disks beautifully but won't play disks from any other region. So, have a look at the Laser BD10803D at the following link: http://www.laserco.net/products/audio-visual/dvd-players/BLU-BD10803D Bob Nelson - Original Message - From: "Dane Trethowan" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 4:07 AM Subject: BlueRay Players Hi! RE: re blueray discs
Hi. I don't know where you are located but here in the UK , in the 1980's there was a battle between two video recorder formats; Betamax and VHS. At the end of the day VHS walked away all out winners. Now the battle is between HD (High Definition) and Blue Ray. Both do the same thing, give extremely hi quality video and use multi layer discs but are different formats. Now one can argue till the cows come home which is superior but here in the UK Blue Ray has grabbed the high ground. As Express Burn is produced by an Australian company and they offer a Blue Ray burner then I assume that Blue ray is the dominant format over there. It might be different in different parts of the world, I don't know but despite Blue Ray seizing most of the market here, I don't see many Blue Ray blank discs. In fact, getting blank DVD discs and CD discs is getting a little harder, there is not as much choice as there once was. Since people either stream movies or music or download them and play them via there PC and TVs there is less need for the trouble of burning discs. Walter. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of brian parker Sent: 23 April 2013 18:43 To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: re blueray discs Hi walter, thanks, but what is special about blueray discs. brian.e To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
