Fw: Sound Forge 8 Manual
Hi Folks: I thought that I would send you a copy of an email that I received concerning my effort to obtain an accessible version of the Sound Forge 8 manual. The days of the unlocked version of the manuals are numbered; however, they are making a genuine effort to provide an accessible manual while still protecting there own interests. I did respond to this email and included the accessibility web page from Adobe.com. The problem is, that even if one could save the file as a text file, reading problems would still abound. The real issue is, whether or not they have created an accessible Adobe document: not whether or not they are using Adobe. The truth is that, if they create a proper tagged document, the adobe reader will be the best method by far for reading the document. To save that document as a text file would present major reading challenges, to say the least. Thanks all over the place gang. - Original Message - From: Pfeiffer, Stephanie [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2005 11:31 AM Subject: Sound Forge 8 Manual Hi Jim! I got your name and contact information from Theresa Carlson in our Technical Support department. She indicated that you've had trouble in the past with the security on our PDF manuals and had inquired about the possibility of obtaining an unlocked manual for Sound Forge 8. We recently began using Adobe Acrobat 6 to create our PDF documents, and one of the features of this version supposedly allows us to secure the manuals as we have in the past, but allow screen reader access at the same time. The first manual to use these settings was Sound Forge 8. We tried to find someone to test these settings for us prior to the release, but weren't able to do so, unfortunately. Theresa mentioned that you might be willing to assist us in testing out these settings and finding something that will work. Have you tried the Sound Forge 8 manual and found that it doesn't work with your screen reader? Specifically, the Acrobat setting in question is supposed to allow text access for screen readers. Could you let me know what kind of issues you're seeing? Thanks so much for your help on this. Our goal is to get these settings straightened out so our manuals automatically allow screen reader access without users having to specifically request a new PDF. Sincerely, Stephanie Pfeiffer Technical Documentation Manager Sony Pictures Digital Inc. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
