Re: [pca] anyone seen patch 145957-09 ? SunOS 5.10: fcp and fcip Patch
Hi Dennis, I've taken a quick look at patch 120744-02. It's an interesting case. It's currently not classified as a Solaris patch, but rather as a JavaES patch. JavaES patches require SW/Software patch entitlement, which is obtained via a Premier Support for Software support contract. (https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=showtype=NOTid=1269292.1 explains how patch entitlement works). This probably explains why you cannot download this patch. So, onto the more interesting question - should you be able to download this patch. The answer here is yes. Patch 120744-02 patches a set of pkgs that were delivered in Solaris 10 up to and including Solaris 10 Update 3. Thereafter the pkgs that 120744-02 delivers got updated in the Solaris image. eg.: SUNWcmcon: SUNWcmcon in 120744-02: VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 SUNWcmcon in Solaris: /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_74L2a/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_hw1/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_hw2/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u1/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u10.b17/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u10/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u11/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u2/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=2.2,REV=2004.09.23.12.44.08 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u3/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u4/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u5/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u6/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u7/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u8/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 /export/images/SPARC/solaris_10_u9/Solaris_10/Product/SUNWcmcon/pkginfo:VERSION=3.0.2,REV=2006.10.13.15.53.32 Bottom line is that patch 120744-02 should have OS/Operating System patch entitlement. However only minutes ago I logged into MOS and can see everything again. For weeks I saw some stuff about support ids and such and was able to download only basic patches however now I am back to full software, OS and firmware as I should be. Jonathan was certainly better than Larry, but I really miss Scott. Scott and the original first 100 employees built a company from the ground up. We must keep in mind however that money was flowing like water and the tech world was booming. Regardless, most ideas never get off the ground and Sun was an amazing success because of the brilliant products, people and management. Dennis
[pca] Heads up on another patch
Hi; Been lurking here for a while, but have been having great success with pca (thanks Martin). Have handled 1000+ systems in under 2 months w/ lots of different pca configs (based on security requirements). After everything we saw with 144500 / 501-19, I thought I'd share another heads up for everyone. First off, my problems with the above were solved with another patch from Oracle. The next patch only impacts about a dozen machines in this environment, but if you're running iSCSI with CHAP, take note. Bug to the above was introduced in 143645-03 (CHAP stops working). Bug is perpetuated by 146232-13 which obsoleted 143645-16 Bugs on file at Oracle: 7031995 and 7127565 Official fix ftrom Sun / Oracle is due in 7 - 10 days (approx end of February) in the form of 146232-14 Workaround is to turn off CHAP for the time being. Just a heads up for everyone. Drew.
