Re: [pca] support contract expired, need to renew/buy new, where?
Don Jackson schrieb: Hope nobody else has a contract expire until this gets resolved…. I do, and my experience is similar. My contract expires by the end of May. So I asked for a quote two months ahead at the end of March, which I received two days later, with about the same price as before. My local Sun dealer told me that it's possible to prolong the old contract with the old conditions, but only for a maximum of 12 months. I placed the order, and heard nothing. A week ago I contacted them, and was told that they are still waiting for a reply from Sun/Oracle. There's some time left until the contract runs out, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up without patch access for some time once again ... Martin.

Hi, Our contract (covering 3 servers) expired last autumn, but it has taken till March (or was it April) this year until they renewed it. We have had Sun contracts for over a decade, but this time they were absolutely hopeless. Numerous phone calls and emails didn't seem to make any difference, neither did trying to escalate the problem! We had no patch access for months. I just went through this, and found that some systems I had under hardware warranty now have hardware/OS support. The remaining system I needed for OS support was quite reasonably priced. It took about a week to get the quote back from initial contact. Just an FYI follow up: I contacted sales as suggested above, and was quoted a new support price (approx same as old support price), accepted the quote, and was referred to order booking, who was to call me to get credit card info, etc. At this point everyone involved was informed that the procedure has been changed, and we have to follow a new process for placing these orders. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know what the new process is, and so I am currently unable to purchase a new support agreement. Everyone I have encountered at Oracle is apologetic, and they are trying to help sort this out, which I appreciate. But it is quite frustrating that I am unable to access patches, and am also unable to purchase/renew my support agreement. Hope nobody else has a contract expire until this gets resolved…. Don
[pca] support contract expired, need to renew/buy new, where?
My support contract has expired, so I will need to buy a new one to re-enable patch download entitlement. Is there a web page I can order this online, or do I need to call Oracle tomorrow? Thanks, Don
