Re: [PD] Good sequencer patches for learning?

2009-05-14 Thread Daniel Bennett
After seeing you talk about the tap tempo with human error I sat down
t'other night and had a crack at building one. It's quite simple, and I
think it works pretty well - you could probably make improvements

[PD] Optimisation - Max & PD

2009-01-30 Thread Daniel Bennett
There's been a lot of talk here of late about PD not being terribly well
optimised in lots of ways - GUI drawing, and potentially other areas. I'd
always assumed (naively) that being less impressive to look at, PD was
probably quicker (in equivalent circumstances) than MAX.

As such, (and not having much cash for high powered PCs or software) when I
came to pick between MAX and PD, I picked PD.
Was I wrong in assuming that PD runs more efficiently than MAX (specifically
on XP)? I'm not sure I can afford MAX anyway, so the question is pretty much
academic, but I'm interested to know peoples' thoughts on the matter.
Especially as I've recently come up against PD's issues with Midi inputs on
XP (screws my shutdown every time I try to use midi inputs).
Ta

[PD] Dodgy Midi In on PD Win XP

2009-01-03 Thread Daniel Bennett
Can anybody help with this. When you enable midi-in on PD (on XP) you get a
warning in the message window, and it seems the warning is well made,
because every time I set up PD to use my Midi controller XP fails to shut
down properly.
This is probably real beginner stuff (colour me n00b) but if anybody knows a
work-around or fix for this I'll be really grateful; the lack of a stable
midi-in is a bit of a barrier to performing with PD.

Thanks
Dan
