Re: [PD] Art installations using PD?

2011-02-16 Thread Jeff Sandys
Thanks for all the replies so far, if you have an art exhibit that you would
like to share please do so.

Linuxfest NorthWest is at Bellingham Technical College on April 30th and May
1st this year. With the 'world famous raffle', salmon bbq from the culinary
arts students, Saturday kegger, about 100 talks, 50 exhibitors and 700
visitors it is a great Linux gathering. Find me at the fedora booth to talk
about PD and computer music.

[PD] Art installations using PD?

2011-02-14 Thread Jeff Sandys
I plan to give a one hour intro to PD during the NorthWest LinuxFest, with
the focus on programming for artists.
I would like some examples of Art Installations using Puredata, either
audio, graphic or video, performance or exhibit.
If you have pictures or videos of a PD art exhibit, please send them to me.
I am not looking for the code, though if you have an example it might be
useful, I am looking for pictures or videos of the exhibit, preferable with
art lovers enjoying it.
Thanks,
Jeff Sandys

Re: [PD] Fedora build of Pd-extended 0.42.5?

2010-11-08 Thread Jeff Sandys
PlanetCCRMA is available for fedora 13:
http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/mirror/fedora/linux/planetccrma/13/i386/repoview/

They need to update their web page pointing to the repositories.

I built 42.4 in fedora 13, once planetCCRMA is in place for fedora 14
(should be
a month or so) I'll give 42.5 a try, but Fernando will probably beat me to it.

It requires a little more than ./configure, make, make install but
I was able to build 42.4 on fedora 13 and updated the Fedora page
on the PD Community Site:
 http://puredata.info/docs/developer/Fedora
You may want to install to a separate directory to keep your older
version. If you find any mistakes in the page above, please correct
it for others who follow.

[PD] gameport joystick in pd-extended?

2010-05-14 Thread Jeff Sandys
Do you mean, how do I connect an old 15-pin joystick
to a new computer without a 15-pin joystick port?

Get a USB to 15-pin joystick adapter, $5 and up.

[PD] customizing the new Pd GUI, some examples

2009-08-27 Thread Jeff Sandys
Feature request for new GUI
It would be nice to graphically render a patch and save it as a png or other
graphic object without starting PD audio or GUI.
This would be useful for documentation and web graphics. Could this be done as
a customization that Hans mentioned or would it need to be in the main body GUI
code?
 $ pd_render patch.pd patch.png

Thanks,
Jeff Sandys

Yes. Just download the file and install per the instructions at:
http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html
except change the tar and cd commands to match the file name.

The text size is OK in 41.4-extended-rc4 and if you use the prefix option
as listed you won't overwrite the PlanetCCRMA PD 39.3 version.

I didn't get the error messages about xmms and mysqlclient15 with this
method, you may want to try installing xmms-devel instead of xmms-dev ...

Since Fedora 9 is at the end of life I hope that Hans-Christoph can move
to Fedora 10 or just skip to Fedora 11 once CCRMA lands there.

[PD] Pd-extended 0.41.4 release candidate 1

2009-05-16 Thread Jeff Sandys
This change kind of works for me. Using: Fedora Core 9/i386:
Pd-0.41.4-extended-rc1-planetccrma9-i386.tar.bz2 with
Fedora 10 and 2.6.26.8-1.rt16.1.fc10.ccrma.i686.rt kernel.
The install per your instructions ran quickly with no problems.

The default font size 12 is noticeably smaller than font size 12
in the editor or terminal, more like size 9.
The relation of box size to font size is uneven, size 10, 12 & 16,
just fits, but size 8, 24 & 36 have extra space between the end of
the text and the box, and size 8 font is impossibly small to read.

Why does the tk program list 10 different sizes when the
pd font choice box only lists 6 (size 8 10 12 16 24 36)?
What (or where) is the relation between this foreach and
the pd font selection dialog?

[PD] render pd files

2007-02-01 Thread Jeff Sandys
Is there a way to render a .pd file to make a printable graphic besides
loading the file into PD?as in:
$ renderPD input_patch.pd output_graphic.png
This would be useful for documentation and could be a nice addition to
a web server or browser.
