[PD] online video conferencing
Hi all, I am looking for an accessible way to do a video conference with multiple parties (4 or 5) for a telematic performance. The bandwidth is there and visual latency is not an issue in this case. Any ideas about a stable platform for this would be greatly appreciated. In the past I worked with Access Grid, which was quite stable, but is very tricky to install on Snow Leopard and doesn't work at all on Lion and later. It still works on Windows, but not all the parties can get a Windows system, Google Hangout should work (I haven't tested it yet) but it doesn't allow you, to my knowledge, to separate the video windows and reorganize them on the screen. There are some paid cloud-conferencing services that can work for this, but as far as I know they work on subscription. If you know of such a service that allows renting a video conferencing service temporarily that could be helpful too. Many thanks for any help Eldad ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Re: [PD] data structures in abstractions
Great It works fairly well with graph on parent of the subpatch (datawindow) However, if I try to make the entire patch into an abstraction and have a graph on parent of the main window containing the graph from the subpatch it doesn't work so well. It seems to display in another patch but buggy, and it also doesn't allow me to drag and drop the polygon joints. Do you know if this should work and how? Thanks Eldad Hi Eldad, You have to adjust the x range and y range in the canvas properties to be in agreement with the x and y size in the canvas properties. So if x size is 85, make the range 0 to 84, and do a similar process for the y. I think it's done this way for Put menu arrays where you would have a different y range depending on the situation. However, drawing instructions like [plot] give the ability to scale the values of a scalar to some screen pixel range so I don't get why this range business is part of the canvas properties (or the canvas class for that matter). -Jonathan ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management - http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list
Re: [PD] data structures in abstractions
Thanks Jonathan You are a magician. You said it works, so now it does no bugs. The only thing I can't get rid of is the datawindow name appearing in the graph on parent. No matter how many times I turn it off, once I save it and load it again, it comes back on. The name of the main graph on parent does not show, only of the subpatch I attached the abstraction here Cheers Eldad randomPolygon.pd Description: Binary data randomPolygon-help.pd Description: Binary data On 2012-11-27, at 11:11 PM, Jonathan Wilkes wrote: - Original Message - From: eldad tsabary tazberryd...@gmail.com To: pd-list@iem.at Cc: Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2012 10:31 PM Subject: Re: [PD] data structures in abstractions G reat It works fairly well with graph on parent of the subpatch (datawindow) However, if I try to make the entire patch into an abstraction and have a graph on parent of the main window containing the graph from the subpatch it doesn't work so well. [PD] Wireless MIDI sync via OSC (on PD) - a video tutorial
Hi all, Recently I created a wireless OSC/MIDI sync setup on PD for Concordia Laptop Orchestra (inspired by David Ogborn's work with the McMaster Cybernetic Orchestra), which may be of interest to others who are looking for a fairly accessible way to make beat-based music with a laptop ensemble. The tools include a master metronome, and a step sequencer which allows creating and performing beats with sampled sounds in real time as well as converting the OSC-based metronome to the more standard MIDI sync (therefore allowing typical widely-used sequencers on the same wireless sync setup). When configured patiently, this setup proved to be extremely stable. Here's a fairly straight-forward video tutorial on how to set such a network connection up and how to use these tools. http://youtu.be/liqOkAEEUL0 Let me know what you think. I don't know if OSCulator can broadcast on the subnet (I don't see why not) but [mrpeach/udpsend] can, so alternatively you could gather all wiimotes' OSC in one local Pd patch and broadcast all your wiimotes, and the class selectively catches the wiimotes with [routeOSC].
