[PD] XML-files

2008-07-07 Thread j milo taylor
Hi,

I also would like to find out how to do this. For me, i am developing a
world in X3D. Sound is treated as a XML node, which has an associated
transform in 3D space.

So my question would be, how could i send something like this (audio
stream?) to pd for processing?

Best Regards
Milo

[PD] XML audio to pd

2008-06-16 Thread j milo taylor
I'm working with an XML database (well in fact an X3D realtime immersive
A-V environment)

i have audio files referenced with this database

is there a way that these streams(?) can be sent to pd to be manipulated?
at any one time there may be several

so from X3D i would have something like

as well as empty elements, like

Any thoughts?
All the best
Milo

[PD] sonify database - load soundfile

2008-05-20 Thread j milo taylor
re: yesterday's post, php to pd - now working great, thanks jack, frank
and alexandre for helping me.

a further development of this app is to load in soundfiles referenced
from the database. these soundfiles will then be able to be manipulated
by granular synthesis, etc etc etc

from what i understand i will need to [readsf~], and record this stream
into a table [tabwrite~], and it is upon the new sample in this table
that any granular processing, pitch shifting etc will be applied.

has anyone done something like this? am i on the right lines? how should
i deal with multiple soundfiles (for example i can imagine one context
where there is only one soundfile available, another when there is say
5, and another where there is 20.

all the best,

milo

[PD] Sonify database

2008-05-19 Thread j milo taylor
I am trying to sonify a mysql database that runs in a webbrowser.

I have a number of php variables
e.g
 e.g 7
 e.g. 4
 e.g. 20
 e.g. 3
 e.g 0

does anyone have an idea about how to send the values of these variables
to pd?

I'm on XP ( ;-( )

thanks

Re: [PD] Ambisonics for Immersive Environment

2008-04-10 Thread j milo taylor
Hi IOhannes,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the response.

The aim for my app is an installation i.e. multispeaker diffusion rather
than headphones. I have stereo sources that I wish to place around the
exhibition space, so bin_ambi would not be the right choice right?

regards
milo

[PD] Ambisonics for Immersive Environment

2008-04-10 Thread j milo taylor
Hi,

I am bit of a newbie and I'm intending to development an immersive
audio-visual environment based on a mysql / xml database of sound
artists. I would like to explore PD as the means of presenting data in a
spatialised installation context, and ambisonics would add a lot to the
experience.

The options available in PD are, as I understand

IEM bin_ambi
CUBEmixer
Ambilib
ambipan~, ambicube~ and vbapan~

Does anyone have any recommedations for this? My app is, at present
based in X3D, and the position of sound sources are expressed as, for
example

position='-3.20022 -.78022 17.05038',

how complex would it be to send this spatialisation data to PD, and use
to PD as the audio engine for app for further real-time manipulation?

best regards
milo

p.s. at present i'm on a xp box.
