To anyone who has gotten pdp_glx to work on os x, What did you have to install to get it going? I have run the latest auto-build and although pdp_glx object opens, when ever I try to get a window open I get the following error: pdp_xdisplay_new: can't open display :0 pdp_glx: cant open display :0 I have tried this on 2 different G4s and one G5 with os 10.4.9. Thanks. You know even though the pdp_glx help file cleary states: pdp_glx ouputs video in a window using the openGL extension on an X11 window system. hala, you can try the classical -ltheora that is not in the Makefile bacause for some obscure reason i was forced to link statically with libtheora.a on linux to make it work. you can also put the libtheora.a in /usr/local/lib to keep the static linking. saludos, sevy Quoting Hans-Christoph Steiner [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Yeah, there is something whacky going on with the PiDiP build. ./ configure finds theora: checking for ogg_stream_init in -logg... yes checking for vorbis_analysis_init in -lvorbis... yes checking for vorbis_encode_setup_init in -lvorbisenc... yes checking for theora_encode_init in -ltheora... yes It seems to build the theora stuff, but it doesn't link the theora library. Re: [PD] call for PDP testing on Mac OS X
Ok, I updated libquicktime so it should include libavcodec support. That's my guess as to what's happening here. A local Fink install won't make a difference since all of the libs are included in the Pd.app. Please try one of the auto-builds: http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/latest/ They might not all work until tomorrow, since I fixed it this morning. .hc On Apr 27, 2007, at 9:12 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I am getting the unsupported codec errors too with every codec I've tried. The QaD method (creating pdp and pidip objects) works fine. Now I can get pdp_glx running a window in Xwindows and pdp_noise works too. pdp_qt is not being created. pdp_ieee1394 is also not created. i had the best luck following teh directions on Sevy's site, the installers so far have not worked for me. instead of pdp_v4l, osx users should use pdp_ieee1394. we need a usbcam object for OSX , macam seems to get it working for iShenanigans etc.. finally, i gave up on pdp, pidip for OSX and installed ubuntu-ppc on old powerbook and everything works point me at rc and i will give it a shot on a clean mac here. pp Joseph Gray [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm receiving the same error as well. My first test, opening pdp example 1 in pd-0.39.2-extended-rc1, loads every object but pdp_v41. ~Kyle On 4/19/07, marius schebella [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: hi hans, where should that pdp version be? in the nightly autobuilds? btw. it seems there is an intel binary now? thanks for that. but pdp did not work for me. the first thing to solve would be the output window. which I don't see how to create? marius. Re: [PD] call for PDP testing on Mac OS X
yes, that is true, but pdp_xv is not working. so I cannot really say, if the rest is. what is the output window called on osx? marius. Re: [PD] call for PDP testing on Mac OS X
same here. hmm, at least, when X11 is running, then it is possible to use pdp_glx for output. and for input I used pdp_noise just to see what is happening, and that combination gices me an output window and a working patch (both in test6 and rc2). I think for input I want to use pdp_qt? or what is another object for live input? marius. Hans-Christoph Steiner wrote: pdp_v4l won't work on Mac OS X, since v4l = video4linux. As for what to do about getting pdp_xv to work, I have no idea. I tried a bit, and only succeeded in getting Pd to crash. [pdp_sdl] is built in there, but doesn't seem to do anything but crash. Here are the messages I found: .hc On Apr 20, 2007, at 12:08 AM, marius schebella wrote: yes, that is true, but pdp_xv is not working. so I cannot really say, if the rest is. what is the output window called on osx? marius.
