Changes:* fixes to [draw array] and [draw svg], plus some tutorials for using it
* fix bug where OSX 10.8 binary wouldn't work on 10.8 without editing plist
* fix regression with [draw g]
* improve [draw svg] getrect performance
* fix [stdout] so it works correctly with [pd~]
* fix [vu] display error
* added Debian Stretch binary
* simplify startup message
* port some documentation fixes from Pd Vanilla
* fix midi-help.pd, and add links for all midi-related objects
* fix font init bug triggered on some Windows systems
* (work-in-progress) canvas properties checkbox to suppress scrollbars
* (work-in-progress) canvas properties checkbox to suppress menus
* add mouse event callback outlet for [draw image]

it's whether you use the dmix plugin as described here:
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Asoundrc#Software_mixing

when you hook up your "default" device to dmix, applications that "work"
together connect to the dmix plugin and can thus "play along" each other.

pd does not use the default device, but the hardware directly (i think)

[PD] Use Alsa while other devices are using alsa?

Hi list,

on my Debian system I can easily launch two instances of the mplayer
media player or audacity which will then send their audio to alsa and to
the same soundcard without blocking each other. When I try to do the
same with Pd I do get the well known 
"ALSA output error (snd_pcm_open): Device or resource busy"
Why are some programs capable of using alsa together with other programs
and Pd not?

I found that there is no rev4~ distributed with Pd on Debian testing
at the moment. Has it been removed from Pd alltogether? I hope not as it
is such a nice sounding 'verb.

*Theme: Sonification as ADSR*

Auditory researchers are familiar with “ADSR” (Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release),
which are basic components of sound. In ICAD 2018, we want to (1) not only
go back to the basics but also (2) explore and integrate various potentials
of auditory displays and sonification as Art-Design-Science-Research
(ADSR). Under this conference theme, we will value and embrace all types of
submissions, including papers, extended abstracts, multimedia
(videos/audios), concert pieces, demos and installations.



ICAD is a highly interdisciplinary academic conference with relevance to
researchers, practitioners, musicians, and students interested in the
design of sounds to support tasks, improve performance, guide decisions,
augment awareness, and enhance experiences. It is unique in its singular
focus on auditory displays and the array of perception, technology, and
application areas that this encompasses. Like its predecessors, ICAD 2018
will be a single-track conference, open to all, with no membership or
affiliation requirements.



ICAD 2018, the 24th International Conference on Auditory Display, will be
held at Michigan Tech, June 10 to 15, 2018. The conference venues are the
Colleges of Arts and Architecture and Information Sciences and Technology.
The graduate student ThinkTank (doctoral consortium) will be on Sunday,
June 10, before the main conference.
