Re: [PD] computer or patch problems

2023-01-17 Thread Phil Stone
On further playing, I *do* get occasional single pops (can’t rule out other
software interfering), but none of the problems you mention, even with very big
chords. Loadmeter is going up to 70 with ten-note chords on patch 19 (also on
10).

Hi Hans,

On an M1 Macbook, it sounds clean (and really good!).

Hi,

Could someone with a recent, fast computer check if my synth patch still
has audio glitches? I'm not sure if my computer or the patch is the
problem... Download the files on
www.hansroels.be/mim.html , open
main-mimba.pd and open preset 19. Try playing more than 4 notes
simultaneously. In these cases I hear a kind of death-rattle, a
combination of crackles and detuned tones (and the message 'audio I/O
error'). The patch is quite heavy (physical modelling with many delay
buffers in subpatches with blocksize 1). My laptop: intel i7 CPU @
2.60GHz, 16GB ram. Changing my buffer settings in jack didn't really
make a difference...

thanks in advance!

Hans

[PD] Filter help patches typos

2023-01-17 Thread Peter P.
Hi,

just want to mention two typos:

rzero~-help.pd mentions that this was a "recursive" filter. Maybe this
is a copy+paste error from rpole~-help?

The difference equation in biquad~-help.pd gives an
x[n-3]
instead of
x[n-2]

Re: [PD] Old patch unable to run

2023-01-17 Thread Chuckk Hubbard
Hi guys.
Thanks a lot!
Yes, I worked it out from my own messages from decades ago asking about it!
I managed to replace it with iemguts/receivecanvas with a small workaround.
[tot] was able to take the name of a canvas as argument, but
[receivecanvas] seems to only take an int telling it how many levels "up"
to read. This means I have to put a small subpatch on the canvas I want to
read and send the data out, instead of reading it remotely, but it works
now.

Dear BadMuthaHubbard, (one of my favourite email addresses on this list
since long)

a quick check in the SVN repository of old externals yielded
miXed/doc/help/toxy/tot-help.pd
which makes me assume there is a tot object in either a lib called
[miXed] or [toxy], maybe courtesy of Krzsystof Czaya or Hans-Christoph
Steiner. A quick startpage.com search brings up results which may
indicate that [toxy] is by now unmaintained. Others may have better
knowledge of its current situation.

it was the "TOXY" library ages ago, but yes,
it's not maintained anymore.

IIRC the [tot] object did something similar to "HCS" [folder_list], or
now on newer PD versions the [file] object natively. i think it just did
output the content of a given folder, but the usage was a little
different from the latter objects ... (it's been a very long time since
i last used it in a patch)
