[PD] How to open attachments sent to the list in MacOS?

2024-05-14 Thread Julián Villegas
Hi,

I wanted to see the examples of the 3-body problem and then I realized that I
cannot open “bin” files sent to the list in my macOS system. Google says to use
the Unarchiver app, but that didn’t work either. I wonder whether the bin files
were corrupt or how you guys open these files in macOS…

Thanks for your advice,

Julian.

Hey

Thanks to everyone involved in that release. All the things mentioned
in the release notes are much appreciated changes/improvements,
especially the new audio back-end handling and scheduler.

It appears the Pd console suppresses all output from start-up,
including library messages, error messages, stuff printed with [print]
triggerd by [loadbang]. Everything is printed normally to the terminal
when using -stderr.

Hm.. it's not only suppressed at [loadbang]. Even a message triggered
by loadbang sent to server and sent back is not printed.

Re: [PD] Solving the three-body problem [1] with pmpd and GEM, anyone ?

2024-05-14 Thread Winfried Ritsch
Hello,

Thanks for the reply and the examples and thanks to the really well designed
pmpd, it is easy to find a working simulation and can be solved and visualized
in different ways and the three body problem is a classic task for that. So I
guessed that some, from the pd patch family, were looking for and found a
solution to create music and sound art.

Of course, the three-body system is only stable for a small range of initial
conditions and is not mathematically solvable.

The solution Benjamin sent me is really cool: Simulation in the signal domain
and visualization with scope and audio rendering in the ambisonics domain,
which was the initial motivation for it.

So thanks Benjamin for the solution and artwork and Henry for the wonderful
library.

It used to be XP, but since Pd 0.54 it's Vista because of the new WASAPI
backend. The 32-bit version, however, still runs on XP because it is
built without WASAPI.

I can confirm it doesn't load the texts, but that is not the only issue.
For 'ELSE', loading the library at startup also loads a plugin for object
browsing and this doesn't work anymore. I think the order of loading things
have changed and we're skipping an important step.

Hello Winfried,

It's really easy to simulate this problem.
Benjamin Wesch send me a patch off list. I added it to mine, so here are 4
different way to go. (using mass2d, pmpd2d, pmpd2d~ and pmpd3d~)

The biggest challenge is finding initial conditions that did not result in a
very fast divergence of the masses.
