I have an algorave performance next week and was worried I wouldn't be
able to patch together pd-vanilla + externals.

Oops, I misunderstood the Ubuntu LTS versioning scheme. I don't want to 
add another runner until the 18 series.
I'll see if Albert has a PPA for 17.10.

pd-l2ork : Depends: libgsl0ldbl but it is not installable or
 libgsl2 but it is not installable
