I have about 5 of the Transcends and all are a little tight but can be manipulated as John stated. I have also purchased a PQI 2 gb card along with 2 Kingston 2 gb cards. PUG deadline and submission question
PUG deadline is about a day away. I'll probably cut it off sometime on the 22nd (EST) unless a few of you just need an extra day or so. Lemme know. Also, I've had a few off-list email messages from submitters asking if it went through. Would you like to receive a confirmation email when you submit an image? It's an extremely sharp lens, and very well built. However it was a not particularly fast consumer zoom when it was released and quite popular. In other words it's not rare nor was it originally costly. Transcend Memory Cards
I know that these cards have gotten somewhat mixed reviews (though the positive comments far outweigh the negatives.) Well, today I received two new 2 gig Transcend cards from NewEgg. I had pressed my slowest SD card card into service as a Jumpboost device on my laptop, and decided to replace it with a 2 gig Transcend 150x and add another Transcend card to boot. For the last several months I've been using 2 Transcend cards without problems. Well, BOTH of the new cards popped into the K10D and promptly jammed into place. I could press them into the slot but they never gave the slight click-back up, which enables you to click them down and out. I managed to extract both with the help of some needle nose pliers. Looking at the cards, the paper labels are visibly thicker than the older transcends I have. All it took was a few buffs with some 400 grade sandpaper and they were worn down enough to fit in and out of the camera without problem. I have to say - I'll probably install one of these new cards as the semi-permanent Jumpboost device in the laptop (permanent till the Read-Write cycles are depleted) and look to a new brand in the future. I'm not sure how tight the spec re SD card thickness is, but it seems like it should be a no-brainer to make a card that fits in the slot without problem. As I buffed away at the paper label with the sandpaper I wondered about two things - how much static electricity was I producing, and once the glossy finish on the label was gone, was I in for even more swelling of the paper in humid weather? I've seen 'em around Shelley Lake in Raleigh, NC. We're about 120 miles inland - figuring from the closest beach. I don't know how big Shelley Lake is in square footage or whatever, but the green-way path that runs around the lake is exactly 2 miles long. http://preview.tinyurl.com/yuv9le In addition to the occasional cormorant, I've seen lots of Canadian geese, various kinds of wild ducks, great egrets, great blue herons and even a swan there. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

a color: purple an era: sixties a feeling: angry a shape: pentagonal a movement: rolling a position: upside down a gesture: shaking hands language: words and letters culture: ritual an age: old age music: playing an instrument a concept: change OK, that's 12. Now honest, for myself I only see a couple of those as feasible subjects... but then let's call it challenge. And most of them can make a nice gallery. Got a couple of surplus UPS from the telephone company that used to run PBX systems. AC ->DC charging the batteries, then separate DC -> AC inverter (sine wave) for the power output. Well filtered. Replacement batteries are a little on the pricey side, but worth it, and it's only every 5 years or so. They're actually over-kill for the application, but along with some really good surge protectors protecting them, they provide peace of mind. The local power company has gone to some kind of digital metering system and has a data pulse impressed on the AC cycle. I've had problems with a couple of cheapo fluorescent fixtures where you could actually see the lights pulse off every 20 seconds. You could actually see it on a digital voltmeter as well, but not on the power output side from the UPS. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Re: PESO spider eyes
Yes focus accuracy is fine on my K10. The problem with this shot was the shallow depth of field at f4 and a fully extended 100mm macro lens at 1:1 all handheld. I put the camera in MF and continuous drive mode, focused in front of the spider, pushed the button and very slowly moved forward. With analog I would have wasted an entire roll of film without any clue if a single descent shot was present. On 6/20/07, mike wilson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Checked focus accuracy lately? RE: PUG themes for 2008
I like many of the ones already suggested ("oops", especially). Myself, I'd suggest a couple of "specially coloured" themes, simple ones like: red, yellow, blue, green or more difficult ones as: lavender, fuchsia, violet, orange, and so on. Perhaps one of each. I don't know if it's been done already, though. I think it's time to start discussing next year's PUG themes. So toss 'em out. Be creative. Philosophize. Flame each other's stupid ideas. Whatever. I'll take a look at the thread in a few days and we'll narrow it down a bit. -- Scott Loveless http://www.twosixteen.com/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE This message and its attachments are addressed solely to the persons above and may contain confidential information. I really don't understand why Sony and Philips are pushing this way using of their lesser rewriting technology - I mean DVD-RW, which contrary to DVD-RAM standard is less durable (1000 write cycles vs 100.000), less user friendly (-RAM unlike -RW can be used just like a removable disk) and less reliable (-RAM verifies recording directly during write, -RW needs separate verify process after writing entire disc).
