However, opening the image in the Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4, I think I'm seeing what you describe when viewed at 100%. There seems to be a definite banding type pixellation across the sky. It's subtle, but it's there. I've no suggestion as to why your CS5 is showing the problem while CS3/4 isn't. Looking a a couple of my own 'blue sky' images, I'm not seeing the pixellation in either CS3 or the Pentax software, although I'm using Adobe RGB not sRGB colour space. I wonder whether you might try Adobe RGB and see whether that makes any difference. RE: Effects of quake on Japan photo industry
I know I am not the best speller in the world but this is one of the reasons for spell check or at least a good editor. However, due to possible meltdowns at several of Japan's nuclear reactors, the Japanese government has instituted rolling blackouts, which are disrupting companies even if they were not otherwise affected by the quake or tzunami. Other than that it was good to read that no one was seriously hurt physically but I am sure mentally it is hard on all of them. -Original Message- From: pdml-boun...@pdml.net [mailto:pdml-boun...@pdml.net] On Behalf Of Paul Sorenson Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2011 9:51 PM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Effects of quake on Japan photo industry Per Adorama News... http://tinyurl.com/4zjzdoc* *Hoya/Pentax info about half way down the page. -p * * -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

RE: Damaged images
Eric, throw your card away now before you get a whole lot of heartache from it! I had that exact thing happen to me with the Microdrive that I was using in my *istD a few years back and lost two complete commercial shoots. I had to do a mass panic ring around and download a gazillion data recovery programs who couldn't retrieve anything. The best quote I got was around the $4k mark and it involved sending the card overseas to a lab that uses microscopes and lasers to try and retrieve the lost data. Needless to say, I still have the card sitting here as a reminder, and had to do two reshoots. Cost me a bundle in the end in lost time/extra talent costs etc, and many nights of lost sleep as I kept remembering all of the gorgeous shots that I just knew were sitting on the card right in front of me. Your card is on its way out, throw it out before it breaks your heart, I reckon!
