2014-03-11 Thread CollinB
I need to replace the contents of a current with those of a page
loaded into "data".
The on the loaded content has the same ID as the in-memory page on the
client.
(I have verified the contents of "data".)
So ...
$(".breadcrumb").replaceWith(data(".breadcrumb").html());

The first part works. I can "replaceWith" raw text with no problem.
Retrieving the "breadcrumb" out of "data" is my issue.

TIA,

Tested the new Spypoint game camera last night, finally got it to

A brief history as posted on FB:

"So, when is a memory card not empty. Seems my card i'm using for the
game camera was almost full when i did my test shots, it did record
3-4, so, i just deleted them off of the card via the computer. Spent
the last two days trying to get game photos and nothing on the card.
Camera showed it was detecting motion, so I said i'll format the card
in one of my cameras as a last resort then its going back. Put the
card in the camera and got the "card full" message with no images
found. Formatted card in my K-5 and my test shots this morning were
recorded. Figures i might have missed Big Foot Sat night."

Re: OT: attn jquery gurus

2014-03-11 Thread Darren Addy
Perhaps this is a silly thought on my part, but it seems to me that
the question might best be asked on a jquery programming forum, as
opposed to a Pentax Discuss list.
For example: http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/forum/105-jquery/

I'm no jquery programmer, but it seems to me that you should:
either add another DIV to encapsulate your replacement code and then
simply call it by it's (parent) ID in your replacewith. Let's ID that
new encapsulating DIV "parentDIV":

$( "div.breadcrumb" ).replaceWith( $( ".parentDIV" ) );

I kind of doubt that you want to replace it with an entire HTML page
code, which includes head and body code, which is what it looks like
you are doing.

replaceWith examples: http://api.jquery.com/replacewith/

Off the top of my head, use $("#breadcrumb", data) to access "breadcrumb" from
"data". I've used something similar with XML responses from AJAX requests.

PESO - Taming a cock [SFW]

2014-03-11 Thread Igor Roshchin

For Frank: this is a male model! ;-)

http://42graphy.org/misc/_IR09976.jpg
Rated "G" (for "General Audience")

All colors are "natural" (i.e. I only sharpened and cropped the image).

Last month, we discovered a new (2-3 y.o.) winery in the vicinity
("Peach Creek Vineyards").
That's where I photographed the creature posted in the other PESO thread
(I am actually not quite sure what to call it).

Contrary to our scepticism, the winery makes very nice and interesting
wines. It has a nice setting with a pond on the side of the vineyard,
and some turkeys running around, who were very scared and running away
from the camera. Also, there was this rooster. He was very agressive,
trying to chase my daughter away. The biggest challenge in photographing
him was to catch him in focus and at a good angle, as he was running
rather fast, and turning his head frequently.

Comments are welcome.

2014-03-11 Thread Igor Roshchin

Thank you, Bruce, Larry, Bob, Cotty, Chris and Rick for your comments
and suggestions!

I like Larry's suggestion "cabeceo", but it is only for "narrow
circles" of those "in the know".
(For uninitiated, it describes the traditional procedure of inviting
for a dance in Argentine tango. It involves an eye contact and a nod
of the head [usually two - from both sides]. The word refers to the
nod of the head.)

I loughed at Cotty's sarcastic 'Some of Our Customers'.

Bob W.:
> here's lookin' at you, kid.
Bob, I had a few photos with various animals that were titled similar to
that.

I forgot to write about how this photo was taken.
Last month, we discovered a new (2-3 y.o.) winery in the vicinity
("Peach Creek Vineyards").
They had a few domestic animals (birds) running on their territory, and
some of 4-legged animals behind the fence (not sure, might belong
to the winery owners as well).
That's where I took this photo.

I will probably post yet another photo from that trip.

PESO - Solar Energy

2014-03-11 Thread Gerrit Visser

After an extended absence due to competing interests (there is apparently
only so much time in a day), here I am again.

We  usually cruise for several months to get away from the winter but this
year we are in Sarasota. To keep from getting bored I bought David
DuChemin's The Visual Toolbox, 50 lessons. I am done with the first 3
lessons, esp the 'set camera to manual'.

This image is the second of two taken of the same view. Last year I started
wondering whether a different view point would impact the effectiveness of a
scene, much like wandering in a semi-circle looking for a better angle. I
term it the 'mouse level'. In this case it turend a rather boring snap shot
into something with a bit more impact.

In lightroom you can select a series of pictures and assign a time to
start and it will offset every subsequent picture. I had a recent
shoot where I forgot to synch the cameras and was happy to discover
how to do this. You select the pictures and then go to the menu and
there is an option to change the date.

according to the exif, he was at 18mm on a 18-250mm lens.

RE: PESO - Solar Energy

2014-03-11 Thread Gerrit Visser
Thanks Bruce, I have a growing collection of mouse level shots, will have to
build a GESO soon.

If I had been alone, yes on the closer :-) The lens was already at 18mm. I
would have preferred not to have the hut in the view but cropping would have
taken the sun out as well I think. And it wouldn't have owrked without it.
Perhaps I will try a vertical orientation.

Actually if it had been just Pat and myself I could have as well but the
people we were with don't do photos, at all.

That’s only a concern if you think that other people understanding a joke has

Quite nice. The only problem I have with those "worm's eye view" photos
is getting back up from the ground once I get down there to take them.

OT: Figuring out this Apple stuff

2014-03-11 Thread John

In case anyone is actually interested in my baptism by fire ...

Finally finished reading the instruction books, hooked everything
together & turned it on. Mostly semi-intuitive setting it up. There's a
few things I need to figure out yet.

Had to log into the App Store which required me to update my billing
information. No big problem there. It tells me I'm currently at OS X
10.8.3. It's currently downloading OS X Mavericks (it said free update?).

Is that going to fix that "goto fail" bug? Or am I going to have to get
a later version?

I also got a bunch of emails from Apple telling me my Apple ID is being
used with a new computer that it's never been associated with before,
but since it's notifying me of things I just did a few minutes before to
get it up & running, it's not that worrisome ...

Except, it says I've used my Apple ID to log into Facetime & iMessage. I
have only the vaguest idea what those are (something like Skype & AOL
Instant Messenger??). I'll have to figure out where to turn them off in
a bit.

I already turned off bluetooth & Wi-Fi. I don't use either of those on
my home network.

The other thing I need to find is how to set the auto-time-out so I
don't have to hover over it and move the mouse every few minutes to
prevent it from going to sleep while I'm doing other things. Right now
it looks like it's set at about 5 minutes. It's gone down twice in just
the time it's taken me to write this.

Tomorrow night I start looking at getting the recording software installed.
