I've noticed, Paul, that in recent years you've had better luck reducing
clipped whites.
I agree that matrix metering would help.

Odd. I use the full matrix metering on both the k-5 and k-3 when shooting
egrets, and I haven’t blown one out in recent years. Generally, white objects
will slightly underexpose because a dumb meter considers them neutral. I’ve
shot them both against a bright sky and against dark water and shrubs. No blow
outs. I don’t believe I used exposure comp on any of the shots. I do shoot RAW
and usually pull down highlights in conversion.

Louis Lunch is one of half a dozen places in the US that has some valid
claim to inventing the modern hamburger. They used to be open between
11 AM and 3 PM, but since the entire building was moved to it's present
location, to make way for a Southern New England Telephone Co. (SNET),
building, it's now in the entertainment district, and open till 1 or 2
PM to feed the bar crowds as they begin to wend their way home at
closing time. SNET is gone now, bought by the New AT&T and the building

in case of large quantities of files/folder. Those people argue that
the moving using OS means is more efficient, while moving within LR is
prone to problems/interruptions (e.g. if LR encounters a problem alone the
way).
I haven't seen any authoritative information if there is any difference
between the two with respect to handling editing and metadata information,
especially if the information is not written back into the file (or .xmp),
but kept within the LR database.

I assume there shouldn't be any problem, but I am not 100% sure.

I am also curious if there is a difference in this behavior between
LR-3 and LR-5.

2. If I am merging catalogs and importing one into another, I understand
that I can check-mark the option to preserve duplicates as virtual copies.
My question is what happens in that case if I have Collections with the
same names? How is the clash resolved by LR?

Again, if there is a difference between LR3 and LR5, I'd like to know.

Does anybody know? Godfrey? Mark? Anybody else?
Thank you!

Checking the Changelog of your software will often be informative on

Googling: "b2evolution [your version number] vulnerability"

like b2evolution has been vulnerable to SQL injections and so that
would be my first guess. In some cases the vulnerability results in
your site being used to spam which ends up getting your site

My advice with backups is to never trust a hosting provider to do

Attila's advice about the upgrade is good, maybe you can upgrade

Re: OT for the amateur mechanics amongst us.

2014-10-03 Thread Chris Mitchell
I came across this exact issue in a Halfords (vehicle supplies shop in
UK) car park. A young woman asked me to look at her car and see if I
could give an opinion on why the starter wasn't turning the engine
over. I went through the usual stuff - flat battery, starter jammed
etc and then she said "I just topped the engine oil up". I asked her
how much oil she'd but in and she showed me a 5 litre (approx a
galllon) container. "That much?" I asked - and she said "no, one and a
half of them". I took the filler off and the oil level was near the
top. I suggested that she drain it off and she said that she'd call
her dad. How they managed to drain it in a car park I can't imagine...

The video is actually pretty interesting from a photographic point of
view. He discusses the lighting and what it took to get the effects he
wanted.

Sorry, UK-PDMLers, there won't be time for a meet-up, only spending time

Steve,

The link you posted shows K-3 & BG-5 grip for $997 (996.95),
and AF-540 costs additional $80.95 if purchased together.

it appears B+H changed it; when i posted it most definitely had the grip
*and* the flash in the "includes free" section at the top
