With Australia's multicultural population, we have a wide range of cuisines (much different to when I was growing up when Chinese was about the only option when dining out). However, we do seem to be lacking in North American options. I found a Creole place once, which didn't last long, and there are a few lame Tex-Mex establishments but I've never seen Hawaiian, for example. A niche waiting to be filled? Re: Just calibrated my monitor.
With PJ's discovery of this app, maybe someone can get some use out of this...I have a Spyder2 gathering dust on the shelf that someone can have for the cost of shipping. I was able to find a free third party software product that seems to have done the job. It /only/ took about two hours for the analysis to run. I don't know if it's very through or very inefficient. I stayed up to make sure it didn't need any user intervention, but for the most part it runs automatically. Anyway if you're interested in giving new life to an old Colorimeter, The product is called DisplayCAL. It can be a little tricky and obtuse to initially install, and takes a long time to profile a monitor, but hey it's free and seems to work. It also supports a wide range of colorimeters, not just the Spyder2. There were aerialists, both high wire walkers, and trapeze artists, men getting into cages with growling lions, and I thought, at my young age, that the elephants were doing what they did in a fair exchange for regular food, no predators harassing or perhaps killing the calves, medical issues being taken care of quickly, because replacements were expensive and then had to be trained, and there was quiet a size and strength discrepancy that could have proven to be awkward for the trainers, should push come to shove. But that was the late 1940's and early 1950's. There were jugglers, knife throwers, and so many things going on at once I thought my head would swivel off. We thought it was grand. Last night, I had dinner at a Hawaiian restaurant called the Pono grill. One of the items on their menu was something they called a poke' stack, which looked interesting. I saw that for a couple bucks more, it came with kahlua pork. When it came, it turns out that the pork was on the side so I was not, as it turned out, able to buy pig in poke'. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/32228417631/in/album-72157677237858762/ -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com (postbox on min4est) http://red4est.com/lrc -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: 2017 Photo Annual Update
Hmm. To participate this year, I'll either have to pull out the K-01 and snap a few photos or mine my archives for unpublished keepers from my Pentax equipment years. Examining my archive showed that I didn't use anything but Leica (and Polaroid) gear for all of 2016. I don't see that changing in 2017, except for maybe a bit of 6x6 Hasselblad stuff that I'd like to get to... Re: Sad news this morning
Had the same headline in our morning paper. Back when it was not an animal rights statement, nor was it P.C., my mother took me and my little sister to see the Ringling Brothers circus when it was still a Big Top. They stopped their train by an open field in downtown Oklahoma City by a railroad siding, pitched a GIANT tent, had some smaller tents with 'side shows' and put on a fantastic Three Ring circus where there was something going on all the time in all three rings, if I can remember back over fifty years, except when the human cannonball shot from the cannon and landed in the net. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
