Thanks Ann. I think his displeasure was directed at me. A swan, ducks and geese were nearby, but they were all behind him. He’s in the cattails of a wetland adjacent to Vray Lake. Saw a lot of redwing blackbirds today, but this was the only one that was relatively close. Some up in the trees were doing battle with grackles. Re: OT: Blue Apron
Thanks, Doug. It sounds like a bit of an adventure. I get tired of making the same meals over and over, yet I'm not one who stocks a lot of ingredients up for future use, so the idea has some appeal. My son, who is a computer network administrator, uses it and likes it, but he is more patient that I and more precise in how he does things. I might give it a try when things calm down a bit around here. SF Camera Store Closing
Hi Larry & SF Bay Area Folks + Others, it is sad when Mom & Pop Stores close, as some of them become so embedded in a city's cultural life. Kaufmann Cameras was another one of those iconic stores in San Mateo, the Bay Area, California. I believe they moved some where near South San Francisco an sincerely hope they are doing well. The owners, elderly folks were gentle people with encyclopedic knowledge of all things photographic. And their used gear were certainly cheaper than that of KEH. I can confirm this as I bought some three Lenses & two TCs from them + lots of little accessories like Bags, Ball Head, Filters, Lens Caps etc. Here is a photo of the Store in San Mateo:- https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v51wqwxpoa8sir9/AAB6sdegttGFEnicuP4T74nna?dl=0 Regards. Re: Mystery Hawk(?)
Looks like a fish eagle to me. Seen a lot of them by the side of Lake Awassa in Ethiopia. B > On 2 Apr 2017, at 13:48, Jack Davis wrote: > > > > Yesterday at Colusa Preserve. Mystery Hawk(?)
Yesterday at Colusa Preserve. My guess is 350+ yards distant. Tearing away at it's lunch. Pulled up some from a 150-450 shot. My field guide has failed me again, so if anyone has even a guess, I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks! SF Camera store closing
Hello PJ Sir, here in India particularly in Bangalore you will find one Mobile Phone Store every 30 to 40 meters (100 to 130 feet). Smart Phones are a craze especially the latest 4G voLTE (HD quality sound & video) for as little as INR 3999 ($ 62). I bought a decent one with a pretty good dual 13 + 5 MP Camera - with 4100 mAh battery + 2 GB Ram + 16 GB Rom + 2 SIM Slots for $ 94) - LYF Wind 4S. It is illegal to sell "LOCKED" phones in India. Instead you get a Free SIM from a Service Provider - Say Reliance JIO - & buy for INR 303 ($ 4.70) with free Local + All India calls + 4 GB 4G Data for (1) month. "Roaming" is free - that is if I travel to Delhi there are no extra cost while making a call. All Calls Received + Messages are Free. Apple has started manufacturing iPhones in Bangalore. At first they wanted to sell "Refurbished" & "Pre-owened" (2nd hand) phones in India, but the Govt. refused permission. Just sharing information to give you an idea of comparative costs. DSLRs are hot selling "toys" here. Mom & Pop stores are still dominant, but on line stores like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal etc have started the "kill". With half the Tourists in Europe from India, this trend will continue. People no longer want a P&S Camera as their Smart Phones are just as good The Canikons steal the show with starter kits including Lenses for around $ 340. Unfortunately Pentax does not have a DSLR at this price point. Regards. Bipin from the IT/Software capital of the world - Bangalore. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
