Re: PESOs For the Birds
Nothing objectionable with the ‘noise’ in that image. Nice catch Larry. I suspect part of the success regarding ‘noise’ in that image is the overall brightness to start with. If the overall lighting were darker the noise might become objectionable in the processing trying to bring the detail. -Original Message- >From: Larry Colen >Subject: Re: PESOs For the Birds > > >> On Sep 19, 2019, at 8:56 PM, Ken Waller wrote: >> >> Thanks Paul. >> I recently started shooting in the TAV mode myself and am looking to find an >> acceptabvle max ISO to shoot with. > >I have found that when pushing the performance envelope I’m less likely to >completely lose a shot due to too high an ISO than I am to too low of a >shutter speed. > >Here’s one with my K-5, which I was surprised to note after the fact was at >ISO 10,000. Pentax Photo Gallery - Revived?
I don't think this has been posted before but it seems that the PPG has had a makeover. https://pentaxphotogallery.com/ It seems to be a work-in-progress - I can't find any way to search for a particular photographer other than by scrolling down the 'Artists' Page and the old links to an artist's gallery no longer work. Perhaps not dead after all? But still work to do. Dennis Stock's California Trip
Has recently been re-issued for the first time since 1970, so I bought a copy. I've been familiar with many of the pictures for decades, of course, but had never seen the book. It is a brilliant example of photo book editing. The individual photos are great, some of them classics, but the way they work together is excellent, often having a very witty and subtle echo across the double-page spreads. Well worth buying. https://www.magnumphotos.com/arts-culture/society-arts-culture/dennis-stock-california-trip-1960/ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Am I glad I did NOT invest in another system (Olympus of Panasonic micro-43) but instead got the DFA 15-30 and the 24-70mm. I swear my mouse has been hoovering over the 'buy now' buttons several times earlier this year :) Time to get the 150-450 I guess. Happy Camper! And I might have mentioned it before, but that 15-30 is an AMAZING lens, way more versatile than I expected. I did a family outing shoout last week carrying that, and two other lesnes, and ended up shooting 99% with the 15-30 :) Regards, JvW -- Jan van Wijk; http://www.dfsee.com Flickr : jvw_pentax -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
