Unusual for them all to be completely dead. You can recondition capacitors by
setting to manual, then charging and discharging repeatedly. Might take some
time to charge the first few cycles.

Re: Dos PESOs - the Arkansas Travler

2019-11-19 Thread John
They wouldn't have let me move the crowd barrier (or go past it). Probably would
have gotten locked up and then I wouldn't have gotten ANY photos.

Technically, I wasn't supposed to be there after dark, but I talked to the
security guy and told him I'd driven 20 hours to get there & he let me wander
around and take photos.

Couldn't do anything about the security barrier, but the noise I could have
avoided if I hadn't been to lazy (tired) to go back to the car and get the tripod.

Rick -- this is great feedback, I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Pat -- The fact that there would be such a thing as "Buhleresque" as a
concept is already a huge compliment :) . Thanks!
#14 is also my favorite in the series.

I'll probably continue this series btw. I want to go there with the MX-1
with an IR filter and do some really long exposures. We'll see if the
results work well with the rest of the shots in there.

Dos PESOs - the Arkansas Travler

2019-11-19 Thread John
First up is a lesson that if you can't get a fast enough shutter speed to hand
hold it, GO BACK TO THE CAR AND GET THE DAMN TRIPOD. There's just too much
noise. FWIW, it looks great on the back of the camera.

I'm extremely disappointed that I traveled almost 900 miles and blew the shot!:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/jb_sessoms/49091101082

The second shot was taken with flash & I'm reasonably pleased with it:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/jb_sessoms/49090897656

This was taken with a flaky Vivitar 285HV. All of my Pentax flashes appear to be
dead now. And since all of them are OLD, none will be covered by warranty.

Is there any place I can send them that will actually repair them? Or should I
just trash them & replace?
