Re: This pisses me off!
I suspect that W10 might use the Edge mechanicals for various UI things. The reason that you can't choose to not install it is because then without it your file viewer or suchlike won't work. When it comes down to it, a browser is just a means of looking at files, and it's arguably a lot more efficient to have everything in one place rather than having a bunch of different programs with overlapping functionality. > On Jul 26, 2020, at 10:30 PM, John Francis wrote: > > On Sun, Jul 26, 2020 at 05:30:04PM -0400, John wrote: >> I just installed the most recent Micro$oft "Security" Update and it >> installed their edge browser without my permission. >> >> According to what I found on the internet, if you're running Windows 10 it >> cannot be removed. > > It might install it, but that doesn't mean it gets set as your default > browser. > Of course if you're dumb enough to click on the button they offer when they're > telling you about the wonderful new options you can get by using their browser > I assume it will go right ahead and do that, but I can't be certain about > that, > because I declined to click on that button. Neowise etc.
I though my comet hunting was over on Friday night, but last night the skies were unusually clear, so despite the moon being up late I drove up one of the local logging roads I had recently discovered and got some decent shots of the comet, and astrolandscape in general. I'm afraid that I don't have the requisite skill and tools to get these photos exactly right, particulary when working on my laptop, but they do show promise. In addition to comet Neowise and some clear views of the milky way, there was enough meteor activity I even had a meteor photobomb a photo of M31. I was sure missing my K-1 last night. The K-3 is a very competent camera, and I've actually been considering that the new APS flagship in many ways could out perform the K-1 (with technology that has a couple of Moore's law cycles advantage), but sometimes you just need the wider field of view from a bigger sensor. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

darkfield correction
I thought Saturday night would be my last to go out late at night to play with cameras, but last night was uncharacteristically clear. With the plan of doing darkfield noise reduction, I took a bunch of darkfield images. Looking at the results, I'm going to need it. Can people recommend good mac software that I can point dark field files at groups of raw images and which will also give DNGs out? -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

This pisses me off!
I just installed the most recent Micro$oft "Security" Update and it installed their edge browser without my permission. According to what I found on the internet, if you're running Windows 10 it cannot be removed. Fortunately, that does not yet appear to be true if you're like me still using Windoze 7 ... at least not for now. So BEWARE! -- Science - Questions we may never find answers for. Re: What PENTAX Values Most in Future Cameras - more info on new APS-C flagship
A flip out screen is extremely useful in taking pictures of flowers and mushrooms or critters close to the ground. Also for landscapes when on a tripod. For me this is one of the most valued features of my K-1.
