Correct.:-)At least in my findings,Juan. The 6x7 and the Super Program
are two cameras i

should have
bought years ago.

I've allways been so atracted to the 6x7,it has something to it that is
quite mesmerazing and
which is difficult to explain. But I'll have to wait another couple of
years before my budget will
let me spend on a decent 67II equipment. :-(

I have found this rather informative artikel in the meantime.
Take a look at what he has to say about shutter-induced
vibrations.

He's pretty much saying the same thing I guess.

I guess you can't come in from the street on your vacationtrip to
NewYork, and buy this camera in the first fotoshop you encounter,
and without previous ordering?
Otherwise it seems like a pretty good and tempting idea.

$4000! You could buy two here and still have enough change left for
airfare back home.

"Disadvantages of 6X7"

2003-08-31 Thread Juan Diaz
As I read Danny Gonzales articles about the medium format cameras at his
site,
I find it worring that under the description of disadvantages of the 6x7
format he says: "Mirror slap becomes a real problem as compared to most
66/645's"
As I understood the 67II should also have a mechanism that holds the
mirror up if
you want it to. So where's the big problem anyhow?

I can't speak to the 67II, but as a 6x7 owner, I can assure you that mirror
slap has never caused me any problems.
The 6x7 mirror slap issue is an invention of an ignorant person, it is not
real.

I guess MLU stands for "mirror lift up"?

I'm using an old Contax where the mirror is being hold by pushing
at a button, but only as long as you push. Does the 6X7 have any feature
whereby the mirror can be pushed up without you pushing?
It will seem rather trivious asking for this if it doesn't vibrate, but
I once
heard (again) that you get better pictures if the mirror is up.

You can balance an American nickel on edge on the focussing screen of the
6x7 and release the shutter (MLU not used).
The nickel will not fall over.
The camera is that smooth.
It is rather a noisy camera, perhaps the person who started this legend was
standing beside one in use and decided that anything that loud had to
vibrate.
