RE: old lenses

2005-05-03 Thread Lance Overholt
Fellow Pentax Aficionados,

I have been following the "old lens" thread with some interest. It is good
to see that there are those who will use these fine optics as they were
intended. In keeping with this thread, I have decided to sell my
f/4.5-500mm and f/8-1000mm Tele-Takumar lenses. If anyone within PUG, or
subscriber to PDML, is interested, please get in touch with me off-list. I
would like to see someone use these lenses, rather than have them languish
in some vault.

Best Regards,
Lance Overholt

Re[2]: More help from LX Illuminati

2002-11-07 Thread Lance Overholt
Fellow LX Users,

I was somewhat disgusted to find that both of mine (one new style, one old)
both exhibit the same erratic behavior. I use the word disgusted because I
have, very recently, had both of them CLA'd by Pentax USA (for a combined
cost of $410).

Has anyone been keeping score or noting any trends? Have the older LXs
shown less of a propensity for erratic shutters? I wish I had been keeping
a tally.

Best,
Lance

PS: Anyone have an MD motor drive (for the K2DMD) that they would be
willing to sell? Please contact me off-list.

Re: pentax-discuss-digest V1 #2579

2002-04-24 Thread Lance Overholt

Christian,

An easy question... all three of my LXs wear a beattie Intencreen, catalog
#82413. This is the model with grid, horizontal split image, and a matte
ring around the split image. Because the screen is so bright, even the
split image works fine up to 300mm. When doing macro work, I focus with the
matte ring.

I own five other screens but I have not used any of them for over six years.
This single screen provides a much brighter view, and maximum flexibility.

Best,
Lance

Odp: Re: More on M42->P/K converters

2002-04-27 Thread Lance Overholt

Sylwester,

I purchased a General brand K-mount-to-screw adapter from B&H Photo several
years ago. I found the construction to be as Maciej has described below...
and I also found that it would not focus at infinity. In this case, a
simple telephone call was all that was required to have B&H credit the
purchase price (and the postage costs) to a new one of Pentax manufacture.
I can also surmise that this may cause a problem, especially with those
photo dealers that may be a bit "less reputable" than B&H.

Currently, I have two of the Pentax adapters. I use them quite frequently,
on both my K2DMDs and my LXs, with my 500mm and 1000mm Takumar lenses. They
function well and provide excellent results.

Best,
Lance
