Very nice! The pictures of the baby are really fantastic and also
have great texture. What's the film?

I especially like the picture of the Porsche.

As an SP-F user, this intrigues me. Where (in the USA) can one buy
brand new Jupiter 9 85/2s in M42? And how much?

Hello, and a screwmount question

2001-07-18 Thread Matt Liggett

Hello,

I've just joined this list, and I have a question about SMC Takumar
M42 lenses.

(You can skip this background paragaph, if you like.)

About a year ago, I got, from my father-in-law, a Spotmatic F + SMC
Takumar 50/1.4, Tamron 35-70, Tamron 70-220, and no-name 400/6.3. I
also got a Sears TLS (Ricoh Singlex TLS).  Great cameras all around;
the SP-F with 50/1.4 is excellent and the TLS is built like brick
outhouse. Before this I shot with an SRT-101 and 50/1.8, but the
SRT's mirror assembly eventually broke.

Now, I'd like to get a nice, sharp, well-built and fast 20mm lens. I
was looking for the Pentax M42 equivalent of the Nikkor 20/2.8 AI-S or
20/3.5 AI-S. However, all I ever see for sale is the 20/4.5. That's
a little slow for my taste. I noticed last night in McBroom's that a
20/2.8 SMC Takumar does exist. Is this a decent shooter? Were very
many made? Where do I find one?!

Also, if anyone has another reccomendation, I'd be happy to hear it.
I really would prefer an SMC Takumar so I can meter with the aperture
open, but an automatic aperture lens might be acceptable.

Please help me avoid selling this stuff and starting over in a
different bayonet mount system. (That's something I know I'll do
eventually, but I'd like to put it off.)

Thanks!
