In San Diego, there's the Griffith Park area, home to many museums,
beautiful gardens, and the world famous San Diego Zoo.

 Also near Downtown San Diego you'll find the historic Gas Lamp District;
now mostly restaurants and clubs, but in a setting of really interesting
 1920's architecture.

North of San Diego about 10 minutes you'll find La Jolla Beach and
village. That's a beautiful beach, with lots of shops, and a great
place to observe sea lions basking in the sun.

A little east of La Jolla is a peak (I can't remember the name, but ask
a local) where you can look out over the entire surrounding valley,
 including San Diego.

Definitely stop by Coronado Island (you can drive to it) and visit the
 old Hotel Del Coronado.

And if you get bored with modern amenities, you can also hop across the
border to Tijuana. It takes about 20 minutes to get to TJ from SD. You
might consider parking on the US side, walking across the bridge, and
catching a cab into downtown TJ rather than messing around with driving
in Mexico and trying to find parking that's safe.

In Anaheim you've got the usual: Disneyland, Knotsberry Farm, Anaheim
Angles... but you're also not far from the really fun Laguna Beach
community. That's probably worth the drive. Also, check out South
Coast Plaza for one of the most upscale and largest shopping malls on
 the west coast.

North from Anaheim about 40 minutes is Hollywood.

In recent times, I seem to have lost the joy of photography.
What started over 20 years ago as a small concern has grown to an
enjoyable and profitable lifestyle. Then along comes digital. Not
that there is anything wrong with the new technology per se, I was
in fact one of the first kids on the block with an *istD and now
 own three of them.

My problem is that photography has become more of a production line
than an art. Many have argued that only the capture mode has changed
and rather than a darkroom, everything can be done on a computer. Wrong.
All these things can be _simulated_ on a computer, which is an entirely
different technology. Sure, there is an 'art' to computer enhancement
and digital manipulation, but what of the art of photography. It seems
to me it has been replaced by 'digital workflow' and other buzzwords.

Capturing images with digital still maintains an artistic approach where
composition and an eye for a good photo are important, but what then?
I imagine the same dissilusionment was suffered by painters with the
advent of photography, but like the painters of old, many stuck to
thier art and it still flourishes today.

To this end I have decided not to play the digital game and instead
spend my time on furthering the art of photography. Whilst film is still
available I can use that, perhaps I will pick up an 8x10 or 4x5 and go
back to the good ol' days of coating my own plates (provided the chemicals
used are not classified as WMDs and I am arrested as a terrorist).

I will still maintain a digital camera, perhaps pick up a new MF digital
when Pentax decide one is right for release. But for now, I figure on
sticking to film and the darkroom. Perhaps there is a niche for me in the
world because I will stick with the old technology, perhaps not. At least
with a good negative, some of history will be maintained and not lost in
 a pile of decaying discs.

So for now, my MZ-S, my array of K-1000's and my 6x7 will rule the roost.
The *istD's will still be used, but not nearly as often.

 Kind regards
 Kevin

Is this true for all of them?

I remember reading some comparative information on lenses labeled

As for a zoom in the 20-35mm range. While I do not have the FA 20-35
it is suppose to be a very good lens. The DA 16-45 is also an
excellent lens but it is designed for APS-C digital only. I
understand that it covers the full 35mm frame only down to about 24mm.
Do you want the zoom for digital only of for both film and digital?
I have the DA 16-45 and like most who have to really like it.

 Dear perry-

The lens is to be, as for now, used on my m/f equ. Some time down the road it
may find it self on a pixel box but i must confess i am still a devotee of
fujichrome at this stage of the game. That said however i am open to buying a
a/f lens if that is the best option. the 3 i have found to meet my needs are the
pentax fa20-35mmf4.0, the tokina 20-35mm f2.8 atx pro, and one[?] from tamron.
As it seems no one has anything good to say about the sigma in that range i feel
to avoid them altogether. In point of fact, all three of the above lenses are
only sold in an a/f mounts so it seems that i am destined to buy my first a/f
lens in the near future. THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING MAYBE SO, BUT
FOR NOW, LONG LIVE FUJICHROME!!! SANFORD.
