*ist-D problems
My *ist-D has developed a problem, the DOF and Green button no longer stop down the lens. This is a serious problem for me since I have mostly K lenses. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes Pentax USA to repair digital? Some idea of cost would also be appreciated as well. -- When you're worried or in doubt, Run in circles, (scream and shout).

Just out of curiosity, does the DOF position on the on-off switch stop the lens down? I'm asking because the DOF preview on my first *ist D died within days of taking delivery of the camera. Sorry, I didn't get it repaired; instead the dealer just traded it for a new one. Christian

No, it doesn't. It started behaving flaky, sometimes stopping down, sometimes not, then just stopped. The green button doesn't move. Seems to be bottomed. Re: *ist-D problems
Why don't you call them and find out directly? Pentax USA Customer Service is at 800-877-0155. Doesn't even cost anything. Also, I believe Pentax offers expediting at added cost. If you're willing to pay the fee, they can usually improve turnaround time substantially. Godfrey On Nov 15, 2005, at 10:03 AM, P. J. Over a year unfortunately. Christian wrote: - Original Message - From: P. J. Alling [EMAIL PROTECTED] No, it doesn't. Already called Pentax to get the mailing address. I didn't wait for an operator but thought I'd ask here if anyone had any experience before sending it off. The expedited service must be available through the operator since it isn't in their phone menu. Godfrey DiGiorgi wrote: Why don't you call them and find out directly? Re: *ist-D problems
When I've needed assistance, I've talked to a fellow named Mark. It's always best to talk to someone directly when arranging service, imo. I haven't needed service, but at the time I called I couldn't find the focusing screen I wanted. Mark was very helpful, I had my screen in three days. Godfrey On Nov 15, 2005, at 11:05 AM, P. J. Re: *ist-D problems
I've had pretty good response from them in the past (2-3 weeks) for lens repairs, camera repair but none of it was digital. - Original Message - From: P. J. Did you buy it with a credit card? If so, check with them for automatic extended warranty. My MasterCard doubles the warranty period up to a maximum of one additional year. -P P. J. The two buttons behind the green button on my *ist D have always been a little dodgy, they haven't failed completely yet though, fingers crossed.
