Re: American Wigeon
Thanks, Stanley, but a looser crop of this scene would have simply enlarged the blue background. However, I get your point and often crop for it. Re: American Wigeon
I have mixed feelings about this. Nice color, details, sharp, focus ok. But, I believe you cropped quite a bit to get this tight a shot. Good thing, in order to show the color, detail, focus etc. But, for me, it means that the shot is a simple portrait with little life. If the area you show were to occupy about a quarter of the screen, lower or middle right, then it would give me more of an impression of a bird in flight. Some out-of-focus background would be nice as well. I envy you the skill to take such a fine shot of a fast moving bird, but the composition just doesn’t work for me. stan >>> On 29-Dec-18 10:35 PM, Jack Davis wrote: >>> Taken at an area National refuge a couple days ago. >>> >>> Field guide identified it as an American Wigeon. >>> >>> One of the brighter duck color patterns. >>> >>> >>> The usual lens/camera combo. >>> >>> >>> C&C? >>> >>> Thanks! >>> >>> >>> J >>> >>> >>> >>> https://www.photo.net/photo/18514475 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Very nice, Jack. I use to have a sailing dinghy (Enterprise) named Widgeon. Slow by comparison. Alan C On 29-Dec-18 10:35 PM, Jack Davis wrote: Taken at an area National refuge a couple days ago. Re: American Wigeon
I love the sleek body, the clear blue sky, and especially the turned up feather at the wing tip. Another lovely bird portrait! American Wigeon
Taken at an area National refuge a couple days ago. Field guide identified it as an American Wigeon. One of the brighter duck color patterns. The usual lens/camera combo. C&C? Thanks!
