Re: Ann's Butterfly Near Phoenix
I believe it was Walter Brennen on an old TV western that said, It ain't brag if you've done it. Well girl, you've don't it and it's beautiful. Annsan, To make a living, you have to shoot pictures that are in demand. They are not always fun to do. There are sure-fire formulas to make a living in photography. I could list some but I'm sure that you already know them and you probably would not enjoy doing them. Most are too cliché, and far from fine art photography. You have a very good eye for art. An article I read last year in a photography magazine explained it another way. It was written by an editor. He differentiated pictures into two categories. Those that were shot for people, and those that were shot for photographers. He said that the ones that sold magazines were shot for people. You can see that photographers really appreciate your work. Len --- I think I shall always be an amateur in all my endevours because the business side of any of these things is so tiresome and time consuming. I'm actually in a stock agency, but have given them so little lately that I'm not even listed on their web site. I've had shows, but never made a profit because it cost so much to put it together. And then there was the book, but that of course, showed no profit for me. I'm awfully pleased to be appreciated by those on the list. But I have to say I'm feeling the pressure, too :) What can I put up for March? ??? - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Re: Ann's Butterfly Near Phoenix ooops NOT
I got so flustered by all the attention I didn't even notice you moved my butterfly to another venue :) Of course you guys in Texas think 100 miles is practically next door, right? ann Ken Archer wrote: I believe it was Walter Brennen on an old TV western that said, It ain't brag if you've done it. The lack of depth of field here creates a much happier photograph in this instance than would a small stop and a lot of depth. I think your guess of a 5.6 stop is very close, considering the focal length. The butterfly's color is gorgeous. The angle is perfect, and every detail is crisp. I like it a lot. I absolutely concur. From Carp Carp Carp through the western landscapes to this shot, I'm seeing a distinctive annsan look that transcends subject matter. The fact that I can't define it more precisely doesn't change the fact that I see it and like it. Nice job! Stephen - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
