Quite possibly, Alan, though the bokeh may be jarring or distracting because of the difference in focal lengths. I recommend using a lens of similar (or better yet identical) focal length when attempting bokeh-transfer in this manner. -Aaron p.s. remember not to store the lenses on their sides, or all of the bokeh will run to one edge, making half of your image sharp and jarring and the other half unnaturally smooth. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Sounds expensive and time consuming why don't you just buy a new one? Re: Cleaning Micro-Fibre Cloths
Hi Bob ... I was doing something quite similar, using a remote stream in the Canadian Rockies, but, unfortunately, weather conditions are such right now that Mounties won't let anyone through the Tawandehoo Pass until the thaw. This is a problem as most of my micro-fibre cloths are stalled in transit, and the ones I use for A* lenses and those for the Leica glass are amongst that batch. You seem to be pretty knowledgeable about such things - can I safely use a cloth that has been dedicated to SMC Takumar lenses on later Pentax lenses, specifically the A* series. How might they work on Leica lenses? I've always kept the German and the Japanese cloths separate, based on advice received from the Leica list. Hi, I have mine shipped to a small valley in Bhutan where they're hand-washed by Bon nuns on rocks eroded by the crystal headwaters of the Brahmaputra. Re: Cleaning Micro-Fibre Cloths
I've had no problems with just following the instructions included on the package it came in. It says: "Cloth is machine washable, Wash, cold water, gentle cycle. Use low heat cycle in dryer. Ironing not recommended, but can be ironed at a very low temperature." Now it doesn't address use of a detergent but I use one. I assume it was meant to throw in the washer with other things that require similar treatment. The rinse cycle gets rid of the detergent. Of course, you can always just buy a new microfiber cloth, rather than agonizing over doing the right thing. ;-) Len > What's the best way to clean these? Re: Cleaning Micro-Fibre Cloths
I use soap, else the oils that collect are not removed. Actually, I don't use these much. I use a toothpick, lens paper and carbon black. Regards, Bob... "Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that 'if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." - Samuel Adams, 1771 From: "Shel Belinkoff" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > What's the best way to clean these?
